Well, I finally and reluctantly took the plunge and put my faith in Diablo after several frustrating months of shifting issues with r20. I updated my calid and loaded the 9r04 last night.
Prior to last night, I had been complaining and providing constructive feedback to DiabloSport in hopes of fixing the issues that I was having: 1) poor shifts; 2) terrible downshifting; 3) low end power loss (at least I thought so). I closely watched and listened to everyone's opinions, gripes, and successes with varying versions that they were using, but for some reason the issue seemed to vary greatly in several people's opinion. However, there seemed to be consistency of the issues related to the 2006 5.7s.
So, here it is: After updating my calid and loading 9r04 (91CAI) without any problems at all, I gave it a go. My firm, solid, and strong shifts are back in the 1-2 and the 2-3 at WOT! The downshifting is a little better, but I'm still evaluating that one (update to follow). The low end power loss seems unchanged to what I was using before (r18 and r20). I was going to load r17 and r16a to see if that was the low end power I remember having, but didn't. The "low end power loss" might just be me. I'm not sure, but I'm trying to be as open-minded and as unbiased as I can.
Bottom line: I put my faith in Diablo as they have always come through, or at least given it their best shot, and I'm happy with 9r04 as a whole. The shifting is very good (mine is set at firmness "increased," 6000 shift points, and raised rev limiter +400 to be safe).
I owe this post to DiabloSport and all of the members that I've been discussing this with back and forth at nauseam.
Thanks to all.
