91 per. tune with 87 gas.

I have an 06 Mustang GT. I remember reading in another thread that some one used the 91 tune with 87 gas and reduced the global spark by 4. Is there any benefit with doing this?

I tried the experiment. I have 87 octane gas. I installed 91 per. tune and reduced the spark by 4. I didn't notice any pinging, although I only took it for a short drive. I didn't notice any performance benefits, so I switched back to the 87 tune and set the spark back to 0

I'm running the 91 octane tune with +2 global advance, +.5 fuel on 89 octane with no pinging - audible at least.
Looking at a few data logs everything seems fine. Going to keep playing around with it and see what I can get out of 89 octane.
For what it's worth, it's unocal 76 gas in CA.

I am new to tuning, so I may be wrong, but if you are using a 91 tune with 89 octane, shouldn't you do -2 global spark. Isn't advancing the global spark by 2 w/91 tune for 93 octane gas?

Benefit to doing this, no, other than giving up most of the power gained from the tune...
Thanks
