08 6.4l tuner

Post by bc92494 »

Is anyone using Diablo's new 6.4l tuner?
If you are using one, do you like it. How about the transmission strategy.
I was looking at the SCT> Kinda pricey. This tuner looks like it will do the same for half the price.

When did the 6.4L tuner become available? I didn't hear about it being released.

I recently ordered the 6.4L programmer. When I was looking at the programmer, prior to ordering, I saw a line that said the programmer does not void the warranty. Now I have been looking again to make sure that is what I saw but am unable to find it. My question is: Does the programmer void the factory warranty?

from talking to some ford mechanics and people they said that from having all the problems with people bring trucks in with warranty work and can tell that they had after market stuff on it causing the truck to break and them bringing it in for warranty. the new 08 computers record everything that changes for the full history of the computer. so it might not void the warranty entell it breaks and u take it in and they see u put a programmer on it

6.4l tuner

I understand the warranty issue. I really would like to know what experience people have had with the tuner. I am curious about the transmission strategy that is used. I have had other tuners in my last truck (06 F-350 6.0l) and some tuners worked better than others as far as transmission shifting. Also, I am wondering about possible premature plugging of the DPF. Any thoughts on that?

There are certain things that the dealerships look for like KAM (Keep Alive Memory) example the last drive cycle of the vehicle which stores certain information thats redundant to the particular vehicle. When a PCM is reflashed this KAM is cleared in which if you bring the vehicle into the dealership with with this information blank they believe that you flashed the vehicle. BUT KAM is also cleared when the batteries on the vehicle are disconnected. As far as the transmission there are 2 separate files for the TCM. The 45hp-65hp-90hp use one particular TCM file. And the Extreme hp tune uses another. The DPF strategy is going to be the same as the stock calibration. It will Regen based on the amount of soot on the filter.

Cole, It is refreshing to see you post. You are obviously well trained. Makes me feel that at some point we may get some issues resolved.

6.4l tuner

Thanks for the feedback Cole. So, even though there is more soot being created because of the added fuel required for the tunes, re-gen will stay the same? My guess, then, would be that the re-gen is based on a measure of flow across the DPF and not a fixed time parameter. Am I to assume that re-gen will happen more frequently?

Has anyone running this tuner seen increases in mileage?

I have dealers selling these things faster than they can order them, and reporting gains of 3-5 MPG all day.

The higher hp tunes do add more fuel which causes more soot thus causing more soot to be on the filter. Yes on the higher hp tunes you will see the truck regen more if your foot is in the pedal more. Correct it is NOT a fixed time parameter.

I have seen trucks that were getting 11.2mpg stock get 15-16mpg with a tune in the truck.
