Towing 10,000 lbs with power puck 7159

Since the 7159 (for the 06 dodge cummins) does not include a boost fooler I'am a little hesitant about buying one for towing my 10,000 lb 5th wheel.

Can you assure me that I will not hurt my engine towing these weights?

they probably won't assure you that its ok because anytime you run an after market performance box/programmer your doing so at your own risk. i tow a 25 ft gooseneck and when its loaded with my pulling truck my load and trailer weight is around 12,500. i also have a 6 spd too which makes a difference cuz most people i read about run autos. i have the puck with a boost fooler and run it on the 60 HP setting and so far so good. i hit around 40 psi of boost. from what i hear your ok with the stock turbo to about 50-55 psi. after that you need to upgrade the turbo, "O" ring the head and or block and upgrade the studs that bolt the head down so you don't blow the head gasket. hope this helps.

Can you describe the the boost fooler peformance and the advantages using it, I'm running an 03' cummins, 4" exhaust, 1st stage cold air, Carter pump pusher, Predator/puck stack. Haul around 12,000lbs automatic trans.

the boost fooler is made by quadzilla. basically it "fools" the ECU into thinking your not at full boost. on the 03's i think max boost is around 24 psi, the 05's are around 28 psi. when you hit max boost the ECU opens the wastegate and keeps everything in stock parameters. the boost fooler will allow the wastegate to remain closed longer on the 05's increasing boost. on the 03's i think you have to physically modify the wastegate then run the boost fooler or it will throw a code. check out quadzillas web page and be sure. i can hit 40 psi, i think the 03's hit a little less cuz they were less HP and torque to begin with, but with the puck and predator and i think you'll see EGT's go down 100 or so degrees. just make sure your tranny can handle all of what your throwing at it. i have the 6 spd so i'm not sure what the auto trannys can handle. i bought mine on Ebay for 65.00 plus shipping. good luck.

Fyrguy is correct, for the 03-pre 04.5 models the wastegate needs to be physically altered to allow higher boost, 04.5 and up it is done via pcm.

Does that mean turning a set screw and adjusting or changing the wastgate out?

I have the same question about the wastegate mod. I have been told that the boost fooler works great with the puck.

You would have to block the actual waste gate, not 100% on the details. The boost fooler will work fine with the puck and predator but for the trucks with mechanical waste gate it needs to be blocked in order to produce the boost you want.
