2014 jeep grand srt with procharger breaking up at high rpm

Post by [email protected] »

I installed a procharger ho kit on my 14 jeep srt over the summer and everything was great with stock procharger tune. But i live in upstate New York and winter set in. Once the outside air temp dropped below 55 degrees f my jeep will break up at instant wot or if i ease into it it will break up over 90mph and at the upper rpm range. I put a bottle of lucas octane booster in with the 93 octane i always run and i think it helped a little. So then i tried 2 bottle of lucas booster to see if that would finally fix the issue because i keep thinking it's detonating. It felt better but then started getting running rich codes so i went back to just 93 octane. when going back to to just 93 octane it breaks up sooner then with the booster but still an issue. I run 93 octane all the time and a full tank with two bottles of booster according to lucas should of been 99 octane. But at 5 or so psi boost i dont think i need to be running hight octane gas. Any ideas what i should try or look at next to help fix this?

Post a log showing the problem area, your back up and last written tune.
Do you have a wideband installed?

Procharger has the tune locked so you might want to see if they'll unlock it. As soon as you start rolling into the throttle it's picking up knock and carrying it through the pull. Your log shows 2-3 degrees of knock, was this log on straight pump 93?

This pull was on just plain 93 octane. I sent procharger a tech support ticket and ill post their response asap. Thank you so much for your help.

I'm curious and would like to know what WOT fueling is. IATs on that log didn't touch much over 100 so that isn't an issue. It doesn't have much spark in it and I don't think it's lean knock but your fuel trims are slightly skewed when you roll onto it. Most supplied tunes by supercharger companies are set on the rich side :? from what ones I've seen. Do you know what detonation sounds like? With what the log picks up it would be hard to hear depending on conditions. Could be sensitive knock sensors with tip in which can be touched up to make them less touchy.

Let me know what Procharger ends up saying....

procharger responded with "they don't send unlocked tunes or base tunes". I know what bad detonation at idle sounds like but i think it's kinda hard to tell in my jeep with the exhaust and road noise. It feels like the torque management is kicking in or your hitting the rev limiter. I know that's not the case but that's the feel. Plugs are stock and at stock gap I think stock gap is 45. The spark plugs did cross my mind. Whats strange is its like right on the money 52 degrees and up fine 51 degrees below total crap. Thanks so much for the help, you guys are great. But it starting to sound like I need a custom tune. Probably should get one anyway. No idea where there is a dyno in Syracuse that is trust worthy.

stock gap will by NO means work with forced induction.
Pull the plugs, gap them in the .028-.032 range, and let it eat.
I bet it will feel like it gained 50 rwhp or more.

Please do this before you spend any time or money chasing the issue.
