Greetings all,
I recently purchased a '96 Cobra that lists a "Diablo Flip Chip" as one of the modifications. The vehicle also has host of other mods including:
Vortech V2 centrifugal supercharger
Vortech Aftercooler
MSD Ignition
Taylor 409 Racing wires
Iridium plugs
Steeda CAI
BBK 65mm TB
Aluminum radiator
Bassani optimum length headers/X pipe w/hi flo cats/catback
There are a bunch of other driveline and suspension mods as well
My question is, there is no literature about the flip chip itself. There is a small plunger type device in the glove back that goes to something that looks to be mounted in the passenger side footwell behind the plastic panel there.
I don't want to press that plunger without knowing anything about it, nor do I want to take the car into boost before knowing how safe it is. The car did come with a dyno sheet that shows it makes about 475 wrhp.
Can the chip be safely removed and can something more modern be used?
Thanks in advance, if there is any other info I could provide I would be happy to.

to remove the chip, disconnect battery and make sure there is no stored voltage, then pull it out.
Agreed on not messing with the switch unless you know what its gonna do.

Re: Greetings...New Member with questions
Is there a way to access the chip itself to know what it's doing, via OBD2/FORscan or something similar?

No, you'd need one of our burners to read the file off but its encrypted to the burner that programmed it.
