Trinity T2 Cable damaged

So we were doing some other cutting and wiring under the dash and my T2 odbii cable got a slice in it and the red wire was sliced clear through. Doesn't seem to have any effect on the T2 reading data or clearing codes so I'm curious what it does.

its possible its used for a different protocol or different vehicle.
