DOD KNOCK

I have a 7194 with a 9r17. I have 2007 new body style GMC Sierra 5.3 I put the 87 tune in and have been adjusting my spark advance for the spark knock. The other day I turned the DOD off and it sounded like I had a collapsed lifter (loud) or something. I turned it back on and it went away. I think the previous owner may have had someone do an HP tune just to turn the AFM/DOD off. Would this cause the sound when I turned it off with my tuner?

No, that wouldn't affect it.
I've never heard of what you describe, so its tough to say here. Disabling AFM should in theory reduce the possibility of odd noises...

I turned it off again this morning and same thing. Real loud like it dropped a lifter. Turned it back on and it stopped.

I will try it when I get home today. I tried to update it when I first got it. Don't remember why but it would not let me. Do I need to reinstall the factory tune before I update?
