DTC disable for custom tune

Post by lancer-am »

A few years back I had a custom cam and non-mds lifters installed on my 2010 Ram 1500. Unfortunately it looks like they missed turning off a few of the DTC's for the MDS deactivation. It normally isn't an issue but after a long road trip it eventually tests enough to throw a code. A reset of the codes and everything is fine, but I would really like to have it working correctly. As this was years ago I have not been able to get in touch with the original tuner. Is there any way for me to correct this myself with my i2?

The DTC's are for cylinder deactivation issues since there are nonMDS lifters installed. I just need it to stop testing or at least reporting for MDS failures

Ok I think I may have it. Please let me know if this is ok. I connected my i2, went to install tune, selected my custom tune, went to modify parameters, set MDS to off, then told it to apply the tune. This should also disable to DTC's correct?

if you still get codes with the MDS disabled in the tune you'll need a custom tune to disable them.

Gotcha, so this is a solid "maybe"

If turning off MDS in the tuner when applying my current custom tune doesn't work, would someone be able to modify my current tune, or am I going to need to get an entirely new tune?

If you need DTCs disabled you will need someone to edit the existing tune to make that happen.
