Strange Stall / No Start Condition

Post by 95ponygtconv »

Had an odd situation happen tonight. Drove my 2006 Ram 2500 running extreme tune on tuner #7131 (Latest rev) 8 miles to a friend's house. We went to dinner, gone about 2 hours. When I got back to start the truck it fired right up but stalled a couple seconds later, this happened two more times. I thought I may have had a water issue so I drained the fuel filter, checked the air filter. The truck started and stalled again. Fuel gage read 1/4 so we added 5 gallons of diesel. Truck would crank but not fire. I got my buddy to take me back home to get my tuner so I could download the stock tune before I called the dealer to pick uit up to repair. I first checked for codes, but there were none present. Reset the codes anyway and preceded to download the stock tune. After the download was complete, tried to start the truck, it started immediately and idled for at least 5 minutes. As it was already late, I left the truck at the friends and went home. Question: What should I expect next? Do I need to have the truck looked at? It's still under warranty. Any advice is appreciated, as I don't want to get stranded down the road.
Thanks,

Well usually if there is a problem with the tune it will be present the minute you install the tune as they do not change over time.
I would think that there might be something up with your truck, sounds like SKIM(theft system) issues to me.

Johan,
It looks like you're right about the theft system. Do you have any suggestions, so I don't get hosed by the dealer? So far, the service dept at the dealer has replaced the key fob batteries, and commented "it's the darndest thing they've ever seen". It's currently starting and both key bobs are working, but don't want to get stranded or have the horn blasting when I try to start it.
Thanks,
