1. part # U7135
2.revision 8r17
3. 2006 Chrysler 300C
I have a stock car with the sole exceptions of a Mopar CAI, which I understand adds no horsepower and has no other advantage, and a 185 degree thermostat. Nothing else. Pure stock otherwise.
Q. #1: Can I run a program on 89 octane gas and still firm up TCM, shift rpm point, top speed ?
Q#2: Could I also correct the a/f ratio to lean it up, gaining both power and mileage, with the 89 octane setting?. Or do I need to go to a CMR tuner for that (100 miles away)? Indeed, can even a CMR do that with 89 octane?
Q #3: If CMR did a custom tune, would it have any advantage?
Thanks for all your replies to my questions. Reggie
Is there a performance program for 89 octane?

89 octane, on a Hemi....?
Would not be my first choice, but can be done in a custom tune.
Thanks

I put the Mopar CAI on my car. Where did you read that this CAI does nothing? Please elaborate.
I ask for 2 reasons
1 - If this Mopar CAI is just for looks then I will replace it with an Air Raid since I put the thing on for what it is suppposed to do: add a few HP
2 - I am using the 93 Octane tune and was thinking about using the CAI tune but am afraid of hurting the engine if the Mopar CAI is just like having a stock air cleaner that the car came with.
I just got my Predator this afternoon
Thanks

The CAI tune should certainly be used, in fact, you run the risk of hurting the car by NOT using the CAI tune with a CAI installed.
Thanks

Mike,
I will change to the 93 octane CAI tune ASAP per your advice.
What do you say about my question regarding the Mopar CAI that was asked in response to the fellow who said that it was a useless CAI?
Or does that fall into that almost religious area where some folks say that CAI;s do nothing and other's swear by them
Ie. is it just like the Never ending Speaker wire argument
(The argument where $100 gold speaker wires make your speakers sound much better than with just a $5 quality speaker wire. Made moot these days thanks to mp3's)
Thanks,
Joe
