I have installed the Predator tune (part # 119426; v.7R50d) in this 2002 Mustang GT & I'm very happy with it, but with the current gas prices I have been paying more attention to its behavior. In particular, I've noticed that if I drive it semi-aggressively that it actually seems to get better gas mileage than if I drive very gently for long periods. Does the computer perhaps increase the advance (or something else) for a while to match my aggressive behavior and reduce it during gentle driving? If so, what will it take to trigger the change & how long will the change stay in effect?
I also noticed the car actually seems a little livelier & gets better mileage using a mid-grade octane rather than the high grade - it's not knocking and it's certainly helping the bottom line.
I'm getting 23-24 mpg around town in this GT with a 4.10 rear & manual stick in Maryland with some inventive driving (coasting the hills). I lowered the idle 100 rpm, otherwise, it's your tune.

The computer does adapt to driving conditions, air temp, humidity, gas quality, etc....this is the beauty of computer assisted engine control. On the other hand, it can also cause problems if the computer is unable to adjust to certain conditions this can cause all kinds of symptoms, rough idle, bogging, poor economy, etc....
The answer to your question is YES.
