I2 Device not supported for 2008 ram 1500 5.7

have an intune i2050 i2 handheld , was on a 2012 ram 5.7 , when i plug it into my 08 it says device not supported, and then when it goes to update it says 6/7 but says update complete, any help to get this to work? it is unmarried. thanks
