set all the fan temps 20* lower than they are by default then save and install the tune.

few thoughts...

newer vehicles are different, you have a 'target ECT' parameter on the newer models where you ask for a target temp and the pcm controls the fan logic to get it there.

At idle or low vehicle speed, the fan logic is completely controlled by the pcm, meaning your changes don't take effect until the vehicle is moving (5 MPH+ usually). Since the pcm knows there is no airflow through the radiator at idle, it does what it feels it needs for the fans to hold temp.

Thanks

So if I want my fan to cut on at 192 I will need a custom tune?

no...i think we're not on the same page.

The fan control you have is pretty much all there is, not much a custom tune will do beyond setting the commanded ECT value to 192 in the tuner.

Same issue here: 20116 Ram 1500 5.7L 4WD.

Thanks for clarifying about target temp vs max temp. I thought I was setting max temp at 195* and couldn’t understand why the fan doesn’t kick on until 205*. It cools ECTs to about 192* and then cuts off.

Another question: the 87 and 91 octane tunes are self explanatory, but what octanes can you use for the Diablo tune and Jammer CAI tune? And can you run any CAI with the Jammer CAI tune?

Thanks in advance.
2016 Ram 1500 Bighorn 5.7L 4WD CCSB

- Exhaust: AFe shorty headers, Flowmaster 50 HD muffler.
- Ignition: MSD Blaster coils, NGK Iridium plugs.
