i wouldnt use anything over the tow tune, the stock autos are the weak link on the dodge,if ur carful u may get away with it for awhile.

the 48re will suport 500hp but it will cost you alot of money to get it there, billet shafts, valvebody, etc etc.sure they will take the power but the guts need to be replaced with stroger stuff, its the tourque that kills them.do u have a tranny temp gauge,if so u may be ok on the performance tune if u dont hotord to much.

I snapped my input shaft off running just the Predator/Puc stack. I'm sure the Triple Dog softened it up first though...

It really depends on how much you punch the throttle. I ran mine stock on extreme, I could feel it shake when I ran it to hard. I have since changed the Torque converter and try to drive nice. I like to have all that power and smoke when I need it.

I think you can find an interview with Goerend and I think someone from Suncoast. They will be the first to tell you that the stock 48re cannot handle 1hp above stock without beginning to damage the trans.

Blackmagic,
I have the same truck, I got the truck new in may 2006 and put the Performance and Extreme tunes in after 1200km. I had DTT rebuild my trans at 33000 km, 1 year later. I watched them strip down my whole tranny and they took me for a test ride before doing the work. I didn't know it, but my truck was hunting between 1st and 2nd gear lots, but the converter was so loose I could not tell. Anyways, I knew could damage the tranny with these tunes and planed on rebuilding it in a years time. I was really supprised to see all my bands had no lining material left, Converter was not damaged. I tried to drive really soft on the go pedal and only hard once the converter locked up. I was told this was the worst thing I could do to the bands but more gentle on the converter.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is anything over stock power is going to require parts replaced on the 48RE. If your easy on the pedal until the converter locks up, you will still have too much power and wear out the bands. If your harder on the pedal, you could be killing the converter sooner.
You always pay to play....

trans.
hay, guys i got my 06 dodge 7months ago. it had a intake, exhaust, leveling kit and 35" tires. i thought it was ok until i drove it and it was faster than shit!i could not understand why. then i found a bullydog extreme box under the back seat. the throttle was instint and did not change the line psi. based on throttle position and the first to 2nd gear shift was so bad and it had 30,000miles. so i took it in and replaced it. brand new put the lune back on and sliped still {it was brand new!}. so then my mechanic convinced me to put a mopar performance trans. 5 bands with a bad ass torque convertor, instead of the stock 3 band trans. then he recomended the predator. its perfect nice smooth throttle and alow the psi. to biuld in the trans. i have had it on extreme for 10,000miles and i wonted to put a deeper pan on it. i drained it. the new trans mettle on the bottom was almost zero! and i desided to bump up to RKL. wow! its insane when you put it in tow/haul which increases the psi. and locks the torque converter in 3 and 4 gear! but the pyro(1200 after torbo) is to hi for me, but its a grate weekend tune. thanks diablosport!!!!
