2008 GMC Sierra V-Max - Just got my new Predator!

Post by A06 »

Ok Guys,

I'm new and I searched and searched and still don't know what to do.

I just programmed my truck without adjusting any paramaters and i like it alot better. But from what I read I know that with a few tweaks I'll love it.

What is the ideal settings for my truck, It's a 2008 GMC Sierra VortecMaxx 6.0 Crew Cab 4x4. It's got the GM performance intake and a flowmaster 2-chamber muffler.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I also have a 08 v max, my results have not so hot. Rev limit raised, max speed raised, but I dont notice a power increase. And fuel milage didnt improve. Anyone else with this issue?

cooter have you installed a tune or just made those adjustments? which tune did you install?

do you have speed rated tires? that's awfully fast for the stock tires which are only rated for 100mph

112 mph tires. The diablo dealer in my area has played with my truck a few times. He got a custom tune from Mike( i think).
The original tune would not work at all.

what modifications do you have that you need a custom tune?

I'd watch your speeds. I had a tire let go doing just that when I was a kid. I lost the rim, fender well, quarter panel, part of the exhuast system, tail light and nearly my life. NOT FUN AT ALL!!

If any of you guys are interested in trying some new tunes for reduced torque management and better mpg(if you have DoD) feel free to e-mail me your tunes and i will edit them for you with these changes, so far the response has been very positive.

Johan, is this the stuff you gave Lew to playing with?

Yes, this is VERY worth it, speaking from experience. I haven't been out on the highway yet, but around town, VERY NICE.

yes canuck, those are the changes I did for you.

but there are also some NEW ones that were discovered for DOD functionality... if you have DOD and use the DOD tune, there are now parameters available in the new CMR templates that lets us tweak the DOD settings.... which should yield a little better mileage.

Yeah if anyone is interested e-mail me or Lew(if he wants to) and we will hook you guys up.
The DoD adjustments will basically allow the vehicle to go into 4cyl mode more often during cruise.
