Predator Handheld Questions - Buying from a Dealer (CMR)

Post by ws6ta99 »

I just spoke to a CMR dealer about buying a predator form them directly because they are local for me.

He said that they have only one handheld, a generic model (U7100, I think he said) and that they install the program on it to make it work like the U7194 that I am after.

Is this correct? I thought there were hardware differences and such between the different programmers and that is why some have different data logging capabilites.

I would consider buying from him, but I would want to make sure that I am getting the latest (and proper) technology and hardware in the handheld.

Thanks!

yes, they are correct...

dealers have "blanks", and the diablosport CMR software and a burner application, and a bunch of crom revision files...

basically, they take the blank predator, and burn the OS onto it and the related crom file for the predator version they need to...

they can take a "blank" predator, and burn the correct stuff onto it and make it a 7192, 7193, 7191, 7146, etc etc... whatever they need it to be, for whatever vehicle they need it to be for...

as far as if he has the newest/latest blanks that support logging and internet updatability for your vehicle, I dunno... dunno how to tell if he has the latest hardware updates for his stock...

ask him... and get it in writing... so if it turns out not to be true, you have a signed document to fall back on for an exchange or cash refund...
