Went to update my programmer and it says Disk Check, may take 30 minutes. Then freezes. Does the same thing in my truck.

I have ran the new 87 octane after the dead pedal issue and noticed that when I am driving and give a little more throttle the truck surges and sometimes I get a tick noise from the engine. I thought maybe running 89 octane would help but it doesn't. Any help?
