Predator preloaded CEL blocking?

Post by awd4life »

hello everyone, i'm in the final stages of swapping an LS1 into my nissan 240sx and have been researching tuning options but have some questions.

the basic run down on my setup = 99 LS1 short block w/ ported 853 heads milled .040 (11.5/1 CR) MS3 cam, LS6 intake, stock MAF, ported TB, LT headers and 3" X-pipe w/ duals all the way back. the engine runs great now w/o a tune but i'm wanting a platform that will allow me to fine tune fuel trims and spark timing for track use and possibly some nitrous.

i'm interested in the Predator for it's fine tuning capabilities in a hand held application, along with the inherent data logging abilities using a laptop/PC with the available data cable. but can't seem to find any info on the softwares ability to delete/ignore certain sensors that might cause CEL to pop up.

in particular i'm wondering if the base tuning setup ignores the rear O2 signals, or the EGR, and other emissions related systems that i have removed from my engine?

would the predator be useful in my aplication, or should i be looking for something a bit more capable/custom?

to possibly clarify, i need the ability to midify these parameters.

- Disable CAGS
- Tune out rear 2 O2 sensors
- Disable any Emissions systems
- Tire height = 24.73â€

out of you list... here are the things you can NOT do with the predator handheld - you'd have to get a custom diablo CMR tune made for it:

you can NOT:

- Tune out rear 2 O2 sensors
- Disable any Emissions systems
- Remove EVAP System
- Turn off fuel level sensor
- Turn off fuel tank pressure sensor

again, it can be done with a custom CMR tune made for the predator, but you can not do it yourself through the handheld...

very cool, thanks for the info. unfortunately there aren't any GM CMR tuners anywhere around me! could/would you recommend any?

so basically i could get the Predator and data cable to use that for fine tuning and data logging, get a CMR tune/reflash and roll with it?

a custom tune for those items can be done via email... you wouldn't have to physically go to a CMR dealer/tuner...

so yeah, if you have the cables and stuff for the predator, you could export copies of your original backup tune, and also a copy of the diablo tune outta the car... email it to a tuner... they can make those tweaks for ya in a custom tune, then email you the custom tune file...

you would then import that custom tune file into the predator, and then install it in your car.

once again thanks for the info...

so are there any outstanding recommendations for a reputable CMR tuner that could do all the necessary black magic to make my project rip up the street!!!?

also what's the average cost for a remote/email CMR tune? i did a little bit of searching and it looks like i have to contact each person separately?
