U7193 speedometer calibration

Post by Scooter88 »

Hey i have a 7193 predator with the vr9.07 revision and am having some trouble calibrating the speedo. My truck has 275/55/17 tires and ive tried both ways of calibrating, entering actual tire size and then tire height, with no results. Still seems to be 3 mph faster than what it should be according to GPS. Seems the same as before i had the programmer installed. Any advice?

Thanks guys..yeah wouldnt be too concerned about it but really racks up the miles being my tires are smaller than stock and spinning more rpms so shows im going farther. Get great gas mileage tho! Any more advice?

EDIT: When i go into the options to change tire height is lets me change it and makes me confirm the change and then puts a star beside it when i go to my parameters again but if i go in there again before i install the tune it shows stock tire height again!! Frustratin..

I know that the OEM's measure the outside circumference of the tire and then calculate the diameter by dividing the circumference by pie.

Because of sidewall give and other factors, there is no exact science when dialing in speedometers using the diameter method and sidewall numbers that diablo uses. Try to jack up the rear of the truck and then use a tailors tape or string and measuring tape to measure the circumference of the tire unloaded.

Thanks for the help..ive tried entering it in as the actual diameter of the tire(closest would be 28.5 by my figures) and it still does nothing. Even put it in as 27 inches with no luck. Used to have a superchips with the same size tires and i could get it right on(and i know cause got patrol lasered at 80!) Im at a loss..Someone have any advice at all?? Anythn.......Its frustrating since i have the option but doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So are you saying that your main goal in buying the programmer was to get your speedo calibrated correctly?

I can guarantee you that the Stupidchips aint got shizzle on the Predator! Just ask the guy that drives the Superchips tuned extended cab 2wd 5.3 that I spanked last week in my crew cab 4wd! It's apples to oranges man! No other tuner can give you the performance and end user options that the Predator does. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTE!!!

Hey 05 im sorry if i come across that i prefered superchips..Absolutely the opposite. Since using the predator, theres no way i would go buy another superchips. Diablo rocks! And no that wasnt my main goal to get the speedo calibrated but it definitly has its part. Of course i bought it mostly for performance :D But now back to my tire issue..Mikel? This is so crazy..The first time i connected my 7193 which has the latest revision to ds downloader it found the tool and i was able to save the backup. But now when i go in there it asks if i wanna save the backup again or hit no to save last tune written. I do that and it shows the status screen for awhile but never transfers files. It brings up a 8mb file for me to save but pretty sure thats empty because original backup is 330mb. This is on xp. Slightly different on vista but basically same story. Any help? Ive read the 99-06 PC interface instructons and followed them except under my options menu there is no PC communication thing of any sort.
