Need help with U7191

Post by TheClassic »

We just got a U7191 for an '05 Vette M6. We pulled the fuses, plugged in the tuner, and turned on ACC mode. The tuner boots up, and goes to the opening menu. I press enter to go to Performance Tune, and to agree. I than go to Manual for the tranny choice, and I get an error saying "12595692: part number not found in vehicle database." :( 12595692 corresponds to the ECM Software under the Calibration menu. I'm not sure what this means. Please help. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure this is an old calibration from GM, it will need to be updated by your dealer. If you post your VIN I will look it up in GM's calibration database and give you a valid complaint to take to the dealer that will get the car updated so the Predator will work.

Thanks

Ok, I'm back. Aparently, GM recalled that new software for some reason. Just wondering if there is another update coming, or is there a way to "downgrade" the software in the tuner?

Well, I'm having a new problem. I finally got a cable to connect the tuner to my laptop, and got the DSDownloader. However, when I try to install any of the .CROM files I have it says to power cycle the device, so I unplug it and plug it back in, but it says download failed. I have tried this on all CROM files I have including the latest update. Still no luck. Does using an AC adapter for power make a difference vs. using the OBD? Please, please, please help.

Make sure compressed send is not checked in the Ds downloader application, if download fails, just try it again, sometimes different pc's have issues the first time, you also have to check your com port settings, to do so download the revision update document, it will explain it in better detail.

Well, I feel like an idiot. I had the COM port set on three, but it was actually four. I thought I tried on that port before, and it didn't work. Oh, well. It works now, and we got the 91 octane tune installed. All I can say is I'm going to need some stickier tires in the back, because at WOT in first the tires start spinning at about 4500 RPM. One thing I noticed though, was at WOT throttle, I was watching the Torque Delivered percent, and it only got to about 82%. I guess I need to lose some Torque Management. Thanks to Mike and johan for all the help though.
