Economy tune please??

Post by shanet »

I have an older 7170 un updated predator running update 7r19 and I need some help getting an economy tune. I get about 16 in stock mode and with the 65 hp econo tune i actually get around 14mpg and im not an aggressive driver at all. My truck is a 02 srw 7.3 4x4 auto F 350 with 197k on the clock and I have no muffler with 3 1/2 exhaust out the back and an open element air filter(tymar mod) . I am getting ready to make a 1600 mile trip and could really use some help, I plan on sending the predator in for update but I cant untill i get back from my trip. I had a delta chip prior to this tuner and I always ran it on the lower of the two settings and it had crazy power and I got around 18mpg out of it. Kinda wish i had kept it. Any help would be appreciated .

I'd get the upgrade done. That will give you an 85hp tune that is a little more economy friendly. I consistently get between 16.5 to 18 on the 85hp tune if I drive sanely.

Just be prepared to spend some time waiting for the whole send it in, get it back issue.

So basically i bought a tuner that has to be updated prior to me getting a tune written ? I think I will just sell the thing and go with the dp chip. I thought with a tuner I could actually tune some parameters rather than shift ,shift hard, and shift hardest! LOL Its a great tool just not what i had thought it would be and I don't have time for the hurry up and wait game. So off to ebay we go! If Im lucky I will be able to get 250 for it and only loose 100 ! LOL

Did you just buy this tool?/

It has very old hardware and software onit.

if it has been less than 30 days, I'd return it and get a newer one from someone with fresh (within the last year) inventory!

Mike,
I did just buy it from a local speed shop and I should have done my research better before buying , my fault totally! But I find it hard to believe that this tune was acceptable in 02 ? I mean there has to be a file somewere with all the tunes you guys have written in the past for this thing? Im a cnc machinist and I have every program i have written for the last 15 yrs on removable hard drives , jump drives and anywere else i could store them . I understand the upgrade will give more memory to the tool but I just soon remove all the tunes on the predator and install one or two that i can use. I understand you dont have time to babysit every one of these things but I just find it hard to believe a memory upgrade is going to change this thing into the tool i thought I was getting. No hard fillings to you guys my delta chip was the bomb so i know yall can write better than whats on this thing and my delta chip was the red one ..... very old and no were near the memory this predator has now. I may just keep it for a diagnostic tool unless you find an old tune for me to try

try the 100 hp tune...when i had that tool i got the best mpg ever(18-20) with a predator ..i have the upgraded tuner now and dont get that good mileage i used too..i lost 2-3 mpgnow(16-17) with the upgrade. i really enjoy the get up and go hp it delivers but there is no economy tune whatsoever. i am hopeful for a revised 100hp tune similar to the previous version

I agree.I have found the 110 in the 9r04 to be the best for mileage.
100hp for that file was the best also.Maybe they can tweak the 9r04 a little for some added mileage.
