Dodge Charger R/T HEMi....Jba Headers Question!
hey anybody got jba shorty headers? wat are the positive and negatives?? thanks!
RE: Dodge Charger R/T HEMi....Jba Headers Question!
Don't bother. Shorties are a waste. You can get more power using stock SRT manifolds.
Long tubes are the better way to go.

i live in california tho i cant use long tubes bro i know it sucks!
RE: Dodge Charger R/T HEMi....Jba Headers Question!
jba shorties will reduce weight over stock cast iron headers used on 5.7 hemi. Also, they will increase flow because they are less restrictive. Sure - long tubes are the 'best' for overall performance, but in your case (CA resident) you take what they will allow.

I have them on my Challenger RT and I really like them. The stock manifolds are restrictive and the shortys help a lot on our RT's. They will fit on with the stock exhaust without any modifications as well. Get the SRT (6.1)exhaust manifold gaskets though, the ones that come with the headers are junk and the Mopar gaskets are the best hands down.

I know. Alot of the 5.7 guys use the 6.1 exhaust manis, because they're essentialy shorty headers encased in a shell. You get OEM quality with aftermarket flow.JackFlash wrote:

Yup, I had some that I was going to use, but I would of had to replace my entire exhaust system because they are a different length as opposed to the RT manifolds. So, the mid pipes would not match up, and so forth. I got rid of them and went with shortys instead, because it was cheaper in the long run and much easier.Mike_Levy wrote:I know. Yes. The JBA gaskets have a material on them simulare to felt, not good. The 5.7L Gaskets have a tab that isnt compatable with the JBA shorties.Jcj209 wrote:so use those instead of the jba gaskets? and i only have the 5.7 can i still use the 6.1 gaskets?
Long tubes and high flow cats are better, but you will still have nice gains with the JBA shorties, and be not only street legal, but emmissions legal in CA.
On a side note you havent asked about tuning. You are going to need to reasearch tuning for the headers. Generally DiabloSport support says att 5% fuel for headers, but dont quote me on that for shorties. Get Wideband O2, custome tune, or at least more info as they may cause you to run lean and thats a problem.
