Data Logging -- HOW?

Post by IntenseImage »

I know how to get the predator to log a run but what is the preferred method?

From a stop just mash it and let the trans go through the gears?

From a stop just accelerate as normal through the gears?

A rolling 40-80 mph run at WOT?

Or just mix it up as much as possible until the unit runs out of memory (45mins)?

Also, ive seen a pile of suggestions from trying to dig through posts as to what things to record and believe these are the ones to look out for?

BASE Spark
SPK ADV 1
KNK LT RETARD
KNK ST RETARD
ACC PDL POS
RPM
VEH SPEED.

I have an 07 SRT8 Charger with AFE Stage 2, SLP LM2, 180* t-stat and the Diablo. NO catch can yet and run the 91 CAI tune while running 93 octane Shell gas. When I do a data log I will have a fresh 93 CAI tune to make sure I dial in the best I can.

Depends on what you want to see. The Predator/tuning primarily deals with WOT so you're mainly interested in a 1/4 mile drag strip run. Add IAT to your PIDs

Basically I want to check for knock since I know these cars are quite prone to it, and see what I can dial out for the time being until I can get a catch can

OK so before I left work I installed the 93 CAI tune, set my fans, shift points, rev limiter, etc -- no fuel or things like that. Drove the 50+ miles home and stopped to fill the tank. When I left the gas station I started logging and as I turned onto the road leading to our house I went WOT ... the log is basically nothing until about 1:30 .. have a look please

That's bad. Too much consistent knock. What did you fill the tank with?
Try the 91 CAI tune next and see what that looks like.

That was with 93 from Shell (basically the only station around me that offers 93 as premium!) I normally run the 91 tune in case I need to hit a station that only offers 92. Ill load the 91 CAI today before I leave work and will try to do the exact same log as I did last night to see if there is any change.

EDIT: Im also still on 9r07 ... is there any point in upgrading?

Not sure what, if any, tune changes might have happened after 9r07. I'd go to 9r12. That's about where they wrapped everything up for the '06-'07 cars and it's had plenty of soak time with no problems.

Get a catch can.

OK so it was nice out today ... got a full tank of Exxon in the car (last run was Shell). Installed the 91 CAI tune with raise shift points (instead of 93 CAI as before).

Here is the log:

Starts off with a nice pull ... you can see what happens

I continue my way home and have to go up a decent hill ... im sure you will see when

5:10 starts a second pull

Looks like you need to start adding fuel into your tune. Log also your coolant temps and intake temps. This will help to tell more of the story. Later

Yeah 9r07 should be that latest that you would need. If you look at the notes from their download board here..

I thought I had the IAT logged during that ... ill add ECT to the next run.

Since I have never added fuel to a tune before, how should I start out?

Also, I got in on some nice deals from BT and have a catch can on its way. Will do a full TB cleaning and will get as far into the manifold as I can when I do the install
