DV - Logging Lost of connection...

Post by RobAGD »

Ok a fewthings here that are old ones but still needt o be addressed.

when the software losses connection to the predator while logging, it fubars the DV app. Its has to be shut down and restarted.

There has to be a better way to handle unstately data loss. When this happens there are no buttons to press in teh tool bar, everything in greyed out.

I have mentioned this before about a year ago.

Next, Trimming Logs and saving segments, I have so far not been able to do this. It would be handy when I need to dump a log to csv for a 1/4 mile run, I have a tendance to make 3 or 4 hot laps then cool teh car and save data.

How about the ability to move the running numbers in the upper right hand corner ?

How about the ability to over lay differnt logs ?

Maybe make a small side app for that to take X number of logs and allows the user to set the common start point for each log.

Same here. I have to close DV and reboot the Predator. Tough while driving.

No DataViewer development is ongoing currently except for that required in support of Trinity.

Are you running the latest dataviewer updates and Predator revisions? I use the DataViewer alot for tuning Fords and I have experienced some quirks that I have pretty much managed to eliminate. I used to have connectivity issues or software lockups that seemed to happen anytime my laptop would go on standby. Raising the time to enter standby or just not letting it sit there running helped me in that department. Another thing that has helped me bigtime is to always use the connect and disconnect buttons when you are disconnecting and reconnecting the Predator. Dataviewer is a picky application and since I have been doing the above procedures I have almost eliminated all my urges to throw my laptop at the wall. I rarely have issues with it now and I do 3-4 hotlaps during most dyno sessions and sometimes on the street. I do like some of your suggestions, multiple graph overlay is something I hope we can add one day and the common start point would be cool.

Kevin, naw the issue is loss of connection for what ever reason, be it car power down, of maybe a bump of the data cable, it straight up locks the DV software up. I update to the newer DV software ( I use a net book for Data logging ) and it is not a timeout issue at present. I had issues with my Expresscard and it sleeping and never found a way around that so I just sucked it up and have been using the USB dongles.

What I would like to see is a way to force the DV software to research for the serial connection, because everything in greyed out with this happens, you have to kill teh program and restart it.

Even though I am rarely affected by this anymore, this is a good request.
