tech question for new u7193 user

Post by pwrjnky »

I plow with my 2003 chevy silverado with a 4" lift. I basically bought the diablo for tire size correction and a little more power. Usually I plow with my tow/haul button pushed, but I'll be installing a tow/haul canned tune from my new predator when it gets here tomorrow. My question is: should I just plow with the diablo tow tune or can I still use my tow haul button when plowing? Will it affect anything? Thanks in advance.

there is no "tow/haul" diablo tune... you'll have a choice of a diablo tune (which is for 91/93 octane fuel) and the 87 octane tune....

there is nothing changed to the tow/haul settings in the diablo tunes...

so, you'll still want to use your tow/haul button...

oh..ok. Thanks for the fast reply. I was just thinking back to an old superchips on a dodge that I had. It had a tow tune and performance tune. One last question: I ordered it from Summit racing and wondered if they come with the most recent updates or if I'll need to have an update done once I get it? I have a diablo rep 25 minutes from me.

on a side note: when I'm not using the predator on my 2003 silverado, it will be on my 2005 gmc yukon denali 6.0 daily driver. In case there are updates need for that.

not sure if it will be on the latest revision update or not (which is 9r07). it depends on how old their stock is... heh...

make sure you are also buying the pc interface kit (power adapter and serial/usb cable) so that you can connect the predator to your Windows PC to be able to update it, download logs, import/export tune files, etc etc.

and remember, you can only have one vehicle tuned at a time... so when you want to use it on your 05 yukon, you will have to restore the original backup/GM stock tune to your 03 silverado first, to unlock the predator, and then you'll be able to use it on the yukon. both vehicles can not be tuned at the same time.

thanks again.....yeah, I was aware that I had to remove one tune to install the other. I didn't get the cable since my plan is to do the canned tunes. Will it say the most recent update on the tuner when powered up? If it needs an update...I'll take it to my local diablo shop or buy a cable from them if needed.

when you power it up and boots up and gets to the main menu, there's a number at the top of the screen... that's the revision number....

if it's on the latest revision, that number will be 9r07....

if it's anything else, then it's not on the latest revision and you should update it...

it SHOULD already be on some 9rXX revision number...

06Monte,

On the predator under the modify parameters section there is a way to modify your gears, and it will also give you a choice for the towhaul on a specific gear to modify it. For example on my truck I have it slightly up on the pressure on the 1 to 2 and on the 3 to 4 but on the tow haul ones I have the pressure higher.

So despite on the predator you can modify the tow haul mode to have it on a differnt setting than your regualr gears. Plus the 2003 silverado up there do has TCM support as it uses the same predator model that my truck uses.

correct... he can adjust the tow/haul/gear settings himself like you said, since he does have tranny support...

I was referring to the canned preset tunes themselves... since he said "I'll be installing a tow/haul canned tune"...

so that's what I was referring to... the fact that there is no "tow/haul tune" and that the canned preset tunes do not change anything for the tow/haul mode automatically...

but yes, he can go in and change settings manually...

thanks for point that out though man, I probably could've stated that clearer initially... hahah....

So you have it set on a diablo tune, then you have set different parameters when you hit the tow haul button? Interesting. I shhould be getting the tuner any second now. Just waiting for fed ex. hopefully it will be the most recent version since iI won't be able to head to the shop until tomorrow. I may have to get with you on how to do it.

pwrjnky,

That is correct if you hit your tow/haul button and you do this succesfully you can use a differnt set of parameters that way.

Monte,

I mean no harm, I know what you meant bro, :-) I was just pointing a fact of the tuner, that in fact pwrjnky could have his very own tow/haul tunebut he would have to enter it manually. So hoping that pwrjnky doesit the way he wants it,then pwrjnky will be someone very happy and pleased.

yep, exactly... then he could even save them out as "custom tunes" to his pc, and then just load 'em up when he wants them, instead of having to re-do all the adjustments again everytime he switches to a different tune....

hahaha....

no harm no foul man... ;)

well....recieved the new tuner earlier today and installed it on my 2003 silverado with the 93 octane tune with wheel size adjustment and WOW! Impressive sseat of the pants difference! I'll try it out on my 2005 denali sometime in the next couple of days, once I fill it up with the right gas.
