Need help interpreting my log(s)

I have a 2008 Charger Super Bee. Did a couple of data logs. I've attached one. I was accelerating hard onto an on ramp. Can anyone tell me what they see...good or bad?

WHY NO REPLIES??? WHAT GOOD IS THIS FORUM!!! I know this isn't the first time this has been asked because I have seen several replies to questions just like mine. The file has been downloaded 4 times and no comments???

I downloaded it and it wouldn't open... Did you try to download it from here and open it to see if it works?

What good is this forum? Well, just like you said. There have been several, dozens, of replies to the exact same question which has been asked dozens of times. Did you bother to read the threads? Does your log look just like those? Did you Google or search to understand what the parameters are that are being logged? Most of them are the very basic tuning parameters. You should gain a good understanding of them. Again, it's all over the forum and wikipedia type explanations to get started with can be found in the first couple of entries on a Google search.

Did you see something really unusual on your log? Is your car doing something unusual? If you don't know, see above. The value of this forum is when you ask a question like "I'm seeing this which I think is a problem. Does anyone have any ideas why it does that?". Your results on "Hey guys, what do you think of my log?" is going to be hit or miss.

You could become an engineer or you could be patient and nice and let some one who knows how to, help when they have time or you could read and study the other ques., and answs.

for the hell of it (because I am waiting for the coffee pot and was out of town like others all weekend and did not look at any forums), I did download and was able to open it. It's a mess. Your car must run like crap. You have short term knocking issues and even very rare LONG TERM KNOCK.

Now tell us more. Which tune is that, (please tell me you did not modify anything), and where did not get that gas and how many octane numbers did they lie about giving you? Recommendation: Burn your entire tank of gas, go find the best gas you find and fill-up, load the 91 octane canned tune (CAI or not depending on your air cleaner). Then re-log that thing. While you are at it change that thermostat (search the forum for what to buy), because I can see your water temp is 206 degrees.

If you still look at that log after that and the ST Knock numbers climb together with your pedal pressure, you may have something loose on that engine, it is registering a ST of 7.0 and a LT of 3.5....that thing gets the record!

I am actually having the same issues as you are,with my 06 5.7 charger.I get unacceptable amounts of ST and LT retard even on my stock tune.I am awaiting a catch can to see if it makes a difference.If i see a difference,i will report back on this thread(dont know if you have one or not).My biggest concern is that the gas here in new york just plain sucks.

Thanks for the response, I really appreciate it!!! The tune is 93 CAI tune, I've made no changes to the canned tune. I did get my gas from a different BP station though, but since it's my first log I have no idea if the other place was better or not.

Actually, my car runs "like a raped ape"! But, since I've not been in another SRT-8 that doesn't have knock issues I don't have anything to compare it to.

Your welcome JQ, but you should go load the 91 Oct tune. Your missing nearly 10 degrees of timing advance at WOT. If you think that car is running good now, your going to be real happy soon!

Load the other tune and re-log after some other gas, you need to see ZERO LT Knock for starters. Check and make sure you don't have anything loose causing false knock noises to be picked up by your sensors. Your sensors are picking up lots of noise. That log was among the worst looking for knock. Then if that is the best gas you can buy, you will have to get more gas programmed in, especially at the low and mid RPM ranges.

Well, I loaded the 91 Oct tune and filled the tank with 93 Oct. Shell. The results were better but, I'm still getting some LT knock and ST knock. I logged 4 runs. Here's what I could conclude: Results are the maxium results;

Run A:

ST - 5.0 @ 4537 rpms
LT - 1.0 @ 3547

Run B

ST - 6.5 @ 5522 rpms
LT - 1.5 @ 6125

Run C

ST - 7.5 @ 2065 rpms
LT - 3.5 @ 5647

Run D

ST- 3.0 @ 4429rpms
LT - 3.5 @ 4793


Now that I've done that I am sloooowly coming to the conclusion that maybe I should have left this tuner to those who have the tiime and know-how about what to do with data such as the above. I am not comfortable modifying the tune simply because I have no CLUE as to what I'm doing and neither the time to play "part-time tuner"!!! My life doesn't revolve around this car or no car for that matter. I guess I'll load the factory tune and log it to see if there's any ST/LT knock.

I'm probably overly concerned about blowing my motor, but "better off safe than sorry."

I may try an e-tune, but who do I get? AJ is on a "tune hiatus". He seems to be the popular choice. Who's next? I gotta do something with the Predator it cost me over 300 bucks!

adding fuel is pretty safe- you won't hurt your engine by running too rich, it's letting it run too lean that can cause more immediate damage to your engine.
