After reading this post I hope you don't blast me for being naive and start saying there are many many threads about tuning in this forum. I know that and have read a lot here, but due to my 49 years of life where I just never have been car engine savvy, I want to learn but need some help getting over the "hump". Here's where I am at only 2 days after installing my first ever performance tune.
Just loaded a tune on my 2007 300C for the 1st time - I used the 93 Octane CAI tune. I have spent time reading this forum but due to my "stupidity" with cars I can't seem to tie things togther that make it easier for me to understand how to get the best performance out of my Predator.
I loaded the 93 Octane CAI tune because I've been running 93 Octane gas for a while now and have an Aria CAI - use Mobil mostly, but sometimes Sunoco, Citgo, Shell, Hess.
I have done no data logging since I'm still not clear about it, and my impressions are only in how I feel the car is running. I definately notice a change in the shift points. It appears to be chippier out of the gate, but RPM's run higher before shifting than before. I had a dissapointing 0-60 run last night (thought I'd beat my best time of 5.92 but ran 6.38). I start without first holding the brake down - I just floor it (I'm assuming this is what WOT means?).
I'm not the kind of driver that can notice the subtleties of a car running/shifting. The 300C is my first ever performance car, so I have no past experience driving speedy cars.
At this point I will run the tune for a week, and then may try the 91 Octane CAI tune based on some of my readings here that 93 Octane gas may not be true, so a 91 Octane tune may be better.
In laymans terms (still not 100% clear of terminology like knock retard, etc), what sort of advice would you give me to take it slow with the Predator while learning about how the Predator truely interacts with my car? What should I be looking for in order to optimize my tune and get the best performance I can?
I'm new to this so be kind - need advice on optimizing

RE: Re: I
The above post is good info. Your right as a newbe. You probably dont know the terminolgy and abverations for tuning. I always wanted to find a book on (tuning for dumbies) I need it. lol,,lol Like you, I hve poored over ALL these posts just learning and working with my 5.7 chally. also find a forum on you car specfic and check those posts.
Use google search and get tuning info and terminolgy alots there just got to sift through it.. I did.
Oh, install the 91 tune and use good 93 /94 oct fuel to start with then you must get to logging data. It all comes together.
Good Luck
