2005 Dodge cold idle

Post by DCNorth »

I have a 2005 dodge ram diesel. with the Trinity performance tune installed We are in the North and when it gets cold the idle automaticly lifts to 1000rpm the engine surges up and down badly are you aware of this issue and is there a fix for it.

I have the same issue and I am curious if this is normal. The surging at idle if you lightly touch the accelerator is considered normal based of a previous response from DiabloSport so perhaps when it's colder it's causing the same thing.

I hear if you enable the high idle function it clears this up a bit...

I see this feature in the quick adjust menu. Does this need to be selected and reflash the modified tune I am using?

No need for a reflash, simply select it and enable it, then cycle the key...

When I enable this do I return to the main screen and cycle the key or stay on the quick adjust/performance tune screen? When I exit all the way it asks if I want to cancel my tune. How do I know if the settings were accepted? For future updates this would be a good place to have some on-screen instructions.

Over all I have been very happy with the Trinity.

Has any one had luck with this solving the surging? I'm either not changing the settings right or its not working. I've had to start plugging my truck in for fear of damaging something.

I installed my Trinity as it was when it came. The crom file was V1r02 and the cold idle problem was not present. The gauges were all wrong but cold idle worked just fine. I just updated to V1.r07 and have the same problem.

How can I get back to version 1r02?

i have a similar problem but when i leave off the accelerator it takes longer than usual for the turbo and idle to die down? it also burbs for lack of a better word, not a smooth idle down i guess is the best way to say it??
