Stacking causing P0191 code?

Post by 06cummins »

I am having issues with my Bully Dog triple dog and extreme puck stack. I keep getting a P0191 (fuel rail pressure sensor) code thrown. Has anyone else had this issue or ??? The truck runs fine but it's a pain having this code come and go all the time. The dealership has been good about looking into other possible causes but they're saying now I might have to pull the goodies off to cure it. Any input would be appreciated.

Could be either a fuel pump getting weak, or maybe a clogged fuel filter?

Do you mean lift pump or injection pump? I'm running a FASS 95 that's only about 5 months old. I had the Bully Dog off and ran just the Puck and still got the engine light. Now I've disconnected both so I'll have to wait and see. It usually takes a little bit for the light to come back on once it's been cleared. Could there be something wrong with the Puck itself? Or maybe I need to upgrade the CP3 to handle the programming?

So i'm pretty sure my problem isn't the power puck or the bully dog. I went for a drive tonight and the light came back on. Maybe just a bunk sensor. Hello warranty!!

I think these pucks have a problem with throwing fuel pressure codes. Mine does the same thing just an 0148 code... no other stack or even the extreme rkl tune on my programmer throws any codes on my truck...maybe that's why they were discontinued...Poor quality product? I bet if you just run your Bully Dog without the puck you will be in the clear.

Just a thought, try running the bully dog without the puck when the light goes out and see if it returns...keep us posted! Thanks

I ran the truck with both programmer and module off. The engine light came on and I had it at the dealership to get that and some other things checked out. I got 10 minutes from the dealer and the light came on again. Talked to a local cummins performance guy and he said more than likely it's the rail sensor. Back in the summer I had some wires ground out after having an intake installed and it caused A LOT of chaos. It could have damaged the sensor at the same time. Could be all coincidence. Getting a new sensor this week so we'll have to see what happens.
