I did install the 91+CAI version and made the same run as I had referenced earlier in the thread. The car felt very much the same as it did with the 93+CAI tune. It was a tad less aggressive but not much. I did still notice a small amount of the noise (rattle) between 3.5K and 4K, but it was less obvious. I'm beginning to think it was something other than knock. It was somewhat difficult to do a decent comparison between the two as it was about 25 degrees colder than the first run and I was running late for an appointment so I did not have time to experiment.

Still very much sold on this corm however.

if all else fails, use the datalogging to monitor knock picked up by sensors. Your ears can pickup various noises that may be similar to tick/ping/knock such as coil packs, injectors, valvetrain noise, etc.

So, use the datalogging to check for knock level difference from each tune in that rpm range you think you hear something. It is hard to get hemi knock sensors to read zero

totally agree concoursd.... I've been on the road all week (with the car) Tuner is at home. I'm hoping to get the time to play this weekend...

Thanks for pointing it out though.. I should have been more clear.

"C" Crom Results on 5.7 2009 RT automatic

Post by rham48 »

5.7 2009 RT automatic. I'm very happy so far. I've been able to run consistent 4.6 - 4.7 0 - 60 times (using the EVIC) and I could do better if I practice my launch. This was done using a little brake to raise the rpm's, esp was ON and the car was in "regular" automatic mode. I am using the 91 oct CAI tune with 91 oct gas and have a True Flow XDI CAI, Corsa catback and a Moroso Catch Can. 255/55 R18 tires on the rear. No headers.

I did about 9 mins of datalogging a few days ago (with the Predator) and found virtually no knock (had a split second of 3.0 on KNK fuel retard and KNK ST retard, I believe when slowing down at high speed). 0.0 KNK LT Retard. Ran city and freeway driving and WOT (several times), high speed was around 101 mph.

DS, log is available if you're interested.

I installed 9t21c and I am happy with the results. Is there a way to raise the torque converter lock up point? At part throttle, the converter locks up at low speed, lugging the engine sometimes. Delaying lock up to about 45 mph or so would be great. Thanks for any feedback.

Mike,
I have 9t21c installed now. Are there significant changes to the 9r21 release version that would perform better that the test version and if so what changes were made, or should I just leave the test version installed. Thanks...

9t21c works great for me in 3.92 gear 6 spd. 93 CAI noticeably crisper throttle responce. Pulls good through rpm range. I monitored knk and several other items and with the 93 CAI tune no knk retard at all unless I purpousely lugged engine. Other than that nota. I will go back to 91 CAI for normal driving. I still run 93 octane but no STP boost with 91 tune. 91 CAI tune seems a little smoother in town. Where I live we have 10% corn juice in our fuel. Summer when real hot I run 91 CAI tune all the time. Ft Pierce average temp April to Dec, 80's and 90's. I run 180 stat also set fans at slow 185* fast 195*. I have come to conclusion this design car needs air inlet out side engine compartment. Even with good CAI in summer IAT in traffic in 130's at lights stopped. You have to open throttle plate pretty good for a while to cool down which is not doable in traffic. My 2 cents. Also as the last 2 post asked. Should we install 9r21 or stick with 9t21c.
Thanks J Posey, Merry Christmas

Mike,
Should we stick with the 9t21c since we have all had great resulst? or go with the 9r21. I think we are a little apprehensive beceause we are fearfull that we may loose something by switching.
We just like what we have, sometimes you dont know you had a good thing till its gone.....
Thanks

Hello,
I dont like the new 9r21, I went back to the 9t21c beta, The new tune didnt seem to have as much punch as the beta and the car wasnt as fast either, Why would that be. Nite and day diff.
Are there any negatives to keeping the beta tune??

What's up with the 9r21 crom? A lot of people are asking why it seems like it has less punch. I know DS has worked hard on this (as always) but there seems to be an issue. I haven't loaded it yet so I have no personal experience. Is this imaginary or did DS change something when making the final version? DS, I'm not complaining so please don't take it the wrong way. My car runs better than ever with the new beta (c).

The 21c and r21 are EXACTLY the same, the placebo effect is strong with the Challenger crowd....

Honestly guys, we have seen/heard this story time and again. We have literally taken croms down, renamed them, and put them back up only to hear how the new crom is 'SO much better' or 'feels lazy and sloppy'....lol. Its the car, not the tune....
