Can I update the software using truck for power?

Ok I am currently running software version 9r05a. I pulled my program out to have my dealer put in a remote start. Now I figured since I already have it out I might as well update it to the new software revision. The problem is I can't find my power adapter. I have the usb cable for it, but no power supply. So what I was wondering is can I take my laptop outside and use my pickup to power the predator and update it?

This brings me to my next question. Is the new software update worth it? Also is it going to be compatible or am I going to haft to send in my factory tune like a lot of people had to do in the past.

Any help/input on this would be greatly appreciated!
