Smoothing mds
Moderator: mikel
I would really appreciate it if you could smooth the MDS in my tune as well. I actually went back to stock for a couple months because the surging was driving me nuts. I'd really like to be able to run a tune on the truck with smooth MDS!

I'd just like to say that Mike spent a bunch of time helping me via email and I now have the smoothing 93 perf loaded. Diablosport is one of the few companies that actually care about a customer once they have received the money. Thanks Mike, I will highly recommend the Predator and your customer service to all that will listen

Hi Mikel,
I'm a newbie here and just uploaded my first Diablo tune a few days ago but I think I have the same MDS issue as has been described in this thread, I feel a distinct 'surge' when I put my foot down at around 2,000 rpm which I never had with the stock tune, it's very noticeable, it almost feels like driveline shunt. My car is a 2005 / 06 Dodge Magnum RT with a CAI and 180 degree thermostat, I'm using your latest 9r23 91 octane cai tune and my primary question is would this issue go away if I used the 9r12 tune instead? Or do I need to send it to you to have it smoothed? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Simon

you can either disable MDS or you can have it smoothed out. Dodge uses torque output reductions to smooth out the transition from MDS to V8 mode. The torque reductions also make it a dog compared to the diablo tunes that remove them.
So you can either disable MDS to eliminate the transition/surge since you are in V8 mode all the time when it is disabled, or you can have diablo add back in some of the torque reduction that dodge used to smooth it out.

Im new to this tuning world. I have a 2006 Dodge ram 5.7 4*4. I went on a trip this weekend using the 91oct per tune. It was about 90% hwy and 10% city. The round trip mileage was 234miles. The over head display showed 18mpg. I thought that was pretty good but when I did the good old fashion way it came out to 16.77. Which is much better than my older 2001 which is about 11.5 average. I really want to know if anyone else has this happen. I do like the idea of the MDS. I drove with it on for the whole trip. at about 67mph it ran about 1750rpm but it wanted to like to surge to 2000 every couple minutes. I didnt like this so i turned off the MDS and tried some more driving same speed. The RPMs with it off was about 1750 again but no surges, I like this much better. But my truck with the factory tune seem to run a lower RPM. I will have to put the stock tune to double the check the actual RPM. Main ? why is the MDS running the same RPM and surge as with the MDS off and not surge. Any help would be great.

Hi Mike,
Ok I think I've worked out how to do this and hopefully I'm attaching my tune file here however I have just realised that I am in fact running 9r12 not 9r23 like I thought, no idea how I managed to do that but there you go, I did say I was new to this didn't I? Please do let me know if I've screwed up anywhere and many thanks for your prompt response, first rate customer service and, apart from the MDS thing, a first rate product, undoubtedly the most bang for your buck, or rather my buck.
