Smaller right angle plug?

Post by moxieboy »

Lets face it, the right angle they put on this plug just isn't that low profile. There are a lot of right angle adapters for just about every plug you can imaging from HDMI to serial cables that are far more sleeker then the one below that plugs into the Trinity. I would like to do a search on this plug, but not sure what type of plug this is?

I will need to find a female and male right angle plug but I just need to know what type of connector this is? Is it proprietary to Diablo or is this a standard connection?

Here is the plug i need to Identify...
(its the opposite end of the OBD II Connector).

The plug used is a plug for an iPod. They are very difficult to find, and I'm not sure how you would make one with a right angle due to the locking tabs. That being said, here is something I put in a different thread:

If you have a OBDII cable and soldering skills, head on over here: http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/ and make your own cable. That's what I did. Unfortunately I was too afraid to try it in my Trinity since I didn't want to wreck it even though I was 99% sure I had everything right. I just used two AA batteries and an LED to figure out which pin on the OBDII side went to which pin on the Trinity side.

I ordered a "T" and a "TN" from that site, and they seemed to be of good quality. Anything smaller than those didn't appear to have the tabs to hold it in, and that didn't seem to me like a good idea. I believe the "F" is what DS uses.

wow, great site, thank you. I did figure out that it was an I pod adapter from another Forum and after I entered 30 pin into Google that answered that, but you are all right. A 90 degree plug adapter is almost impossible. Spent 2 nights looking. I am looking for this so I can incorporate this into my fiberglass mold that I am designing to hold my trinity as a drop in and docking station (best way I can describe it). I am OK with fiber glass and have my basic design down. The plug below would work but looks delicate and very expensive. I might go the plug and ribbon option. That might work and are cheap.

f anyone has an idea of a 90 degree female and male 1pod 30 pin connector is available please let us know.

This is sort of what I need but maybe one that is cheap and is a all in one adapter

Please keep this thread updated with your progress. I'm interested to see what you come up with.
The apostrophe does not mean "Look out, here comes an S"!

"I couldn't care less" means it is impossible to care less - "I could care less" just makes you look stupid.

Wonder what would happen if I plug my iPod cable into the Trinity? Don't wanna try and end up destroying it.

So staff, can I get into the Trinitys memory by using my iPod cable and plugging it into USB?

I wouldn't do that. The trinity does come with USB cord so just use that. Don't go through the 30 pin. We don't know what configuration they have each pin set to and it could be different then the Ipod. Just because its the same plug doesn't mean all teh wires to each connection are the same. I also wouldn't even think of using any iPod charger cord. Your asking for trouble there. If you want to use the Trinity on a computer use the mini usb port that the installed just for tat reason.
