09 Superduty 6.4 Shifts hard

Post by MikeP5569 »

Part #U7164
Rev 9r12
Vehicle--2009/Ford/F250/Diesel 6.4

I currently have the extreme tune, installed and have been driving for a few days. I do not like the hard shifting of the transmission! What parameters can I adjust to make the transmission shift more like the stock shift? I know that with the additional power that the hard shift is better for the transmission but I can't stand the neck snap every time I take off. If the parameters can be modified to accomplish this, what should the settings be?

Shift firmness, lower it, but not too far, as the extra power will cause it to slip.

You say change shift firmness, were are those options, I see under transmission:
1-2MPH and if you click on this I see a -20_____ 0_____ +20 if this is were I adjust do I go to the negatives?
2-3MPH
3-4MPH and Etc then below that are rpm shift changes, what do I adjust? My old Diablo Tuner for my old truck had the shift firmness feature. The olny two gears I want to change are 1st and 2nd!

Mike P Have a 08 350 ford with predetor and extreme puck,, Transmissions in these trucks are not all that strong...
Just make sure if you adjust shift points, that trans does not slip...... Transmission will give up pretty quick....
Just some for what its worth info....

a hard shift is a happy shift to a degree. The transmission will slip into the next gear normally, give you a softer shift. However this generates more heat and isn't exactly good for a tranny. The tunes will command a firmer shift, usually only on the 1-2 shift as they are pretty weak from the factory. With 900 ft lbs you need the extra tv pressure. However, it shouldn't be TOO noticeable under light throttle, if it is, it could be a fault of the transmission itself.
