I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3l V8 with only a cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust and Predator Tuner(U7198). I want to get a custom tune, but would like to do more mods before getting the custom tune. Any help with suggestions on affordable mods that really help would be MUCH appreciated.
THANKS A LOT,
Corey

headers would be next for the bolt-on mods you'd want to do... after that, then you'd need to start getting into more engine stuff for more mods, cuz you've already done the CAI and exhaust...
I do custom tunes... contact me when you're ready...

Thanks a lot monte!!!! I am going to get a set of headers soon. I was also thinking of maybe a dual electric fan setup instead of the clutch fan.... didn't know if it would be worth it though. How much do you charge for the custom tune? Thanks a lot Monte, you seem to be very knowledgable about all of this from reading SEVERAL other posts on this forum.
Thanks

corey getting headers for a naturally aspirated engine is one of the best mods you can do. Long tubes would be the best bet and depending on where you live, you might be able to run without cats(if you want). As far as the electric fans go, thats going to free up 10-15hp since those fans rob a good ammount of torque. You could also think about getting a lighter under drive pulley and a slightly bigger alternator pully so your alternator output stays the same.

RE: Need help on 2000 Silverado
you'll need to post up copies of your tune files and I can whip up a custom tune for ya quick to just disable the rear O2 codes...
need to post up the copy of your original backup stock tune file, and also a copy of the "last tune written" tune file - which is a copy of the diablo performance tune you installed in your truck.
Saving the original backup tune and current tune (Last Tune Written) to your PC:
1. Make sure you have installed the latest version of the DSDownloader app on your PC.
2. Once the install is complete, run the DSDownloader program.
3. Once you open DSDownloader, click "Options" and make sure there is a check mark next to "Auto Connect".
4. Once Auto Connect is enabled, the DSDL will search for and find your Predator on its assigned COM port.
5. Once it finds your Predator, you will be taken to the Express Tune page. From here, click "Get tune file from Tool".
6. The DSDownloader will ask you if you want the "Original Backup" or the "Last Tune Written". Click "YES" in order to export a copy of the "Original Backup" tune file from the Predator.
7. Once the file has been exported from the Predator, the DSDownloader may ask you if you would like to save it in the ".ori" file directory. Choose "NO" and select your own folder location, or your desktop, to save the file to so that you can find it easily.
8. Your "Original Backup" tune file is now saved to your PC.
9. Now, Repeat the steps above in order to export a copy of the "Last Tune Written" - because the tuner creating your custom tune for you will need BOTH files. So, from back at the Express Tune page in the DSDownloader, click "Get tune file from Tool".
10. The DSDownloader will ask you if you want the "Original Backup" or the "Last Tune Written". This time, Click "NO" in order to export a copy of the "Last Tune Written" tune file from the Predator. This file is a copy of the current diablo tune installed in your vehicle.
11. Once the file has been exported from the Predator, the DSDownloader may ask you if you would like to save it in the ".ori" file directory. Choose "NO" and select your own folder location, or your desktop, to save the file to so that you can find it easily.
12. Now your "Last Tune Written" tune file is also saved to your PC.
13. post up BOTH of those tune files.
