05 Excursion with 6.0

I bought an 05 Excursion with a 6.0. The previous owner passed a unused Diablo Predator Tuner along with it. He said that the previous owner bought it but never installed it due to warranty.

I plugged it in tonight to see what I could do with it. I got the following error:

Can not be used with this vehicle at this time, or something along these lines and then it gave me this code:

I checked the serial number of the unit since it wasn't on the outside and this all of the information on the screen:

This is the first time I have ever dealt with a tuner so can anyone help a brother out?

After reading the support page it looks like I need to install a new firmware update to the tuner... am I on the right track here?

that thing is so old I am not sure if the tool you have is a U7160 (way old and discontinued - no more updates) or a U7165 (which could have limited memory and therefore not updateable but possibly could be updated).

If what you have is currently not updateable because of old hardware (limited space) than you could send it in for a $99 hardware upgrade. Since you said you got it for free, then that may be a good setup for you.

It is a U7165 according to the website.

I need to get a USB to Serial Cable and see if I can update it I guess.

I put the 60hp tune on and it really doesn't seem much faster, has anyone else noticed this?

Yes...Diablo has problems with the 05 6.0.... They say they are going to fix the toon soon...we shall see.

He is correct, i have found some tweaks and such that will help the next batch of tunes here shortly. Just trying to straighten out the vxcf9 stuff first
