Data Logging with 4:10's

Post by roentgen »

Hi Guy's:

I have U7193 9r07 on an 05 Chev Avalanche 4x4

I was wondering, I tried some data logging a couple days ago. It said to cruise @ 2000 - 2300 rpm. Well with 4:10's thats fairly slow say 80 Kph. I cruised until the Predator said log full, I was in 3rd gear all the time with cruise on, but there were some times that I had to speed up, or slow down due to traffic.

I guess my question is can I cruise at the same rpm 2000-2300 on the highway in 3rd gear with cruise control on, or should cruise be off, even though this is really slow, dam near dangerously slow for highway speed.

Do you have to drive in that rpm range the whole time while logging, as you see my dilema, that rpm in 3rd, gives that kind of speed.

Any help appreciated.

Myles

why is it in 3rd gear? you should be in top gear when cruising.

Logging with 4:10's

Says in DSLogRedux. Lug's Engine, Lower RPM's, and will give you a false KR.

I have one other question. On the Diablo it ask's me if I want to log Fast, or Slow. I choose slow, and it took a long time to fill ?

huh??? where does it say that????

the useful rpm range is 1800-2500... obviously, the closer to 1800-2000 you are, the better...

but yeah, put it in D and go cruising... yeah, we all know due to traffic there will slow-downs... no big deal... that data will not be used when it's filtered out for analyzing....

and you want to use the FAST rate to log.

I would listen to 06monteSS since he is one of the creators of DSlogredux.

Thanks concoursd for contacting me and letting me know about the "help guide" that comes with the dslogredux app... yes, it says in there to use 3rd gear and not D (4th)....

that help file hasn't been updated in a long time, and that statement is not applicable anymore...

it says that because, at the time when we (myself and GrumpyAeroGuy) came out with dslogredux, there was no functionality for trucks to disable the DOD/AFM yet... and when doing logs in D, the DOD/AFM would kick in and screw up the data... so back then, the solution was to not do logs in top/4th gear, but to do them in 3rd instead - that way DOD/AFM would not kick in...

but like I said, that's been a long while since then, and now that DOD/AFM can be disabled, that is not an issue...

so if you do your logs in D/4th, just make sure you disable your DOD/AFM first, if you have it in your vehicle...

Thanks again, concours!

Hi 06monteSS:

I thought I was'nt crazy about what I was reading.

I'm not sure what DOD/AFM is, so I don't know if I can disable it.

I will re do the logging in 4th/OD, and log Fast ? I'm of course a newbie at this, but don't mind trying a few things. I just would'nt mind getting all I can out of the tool, as I tow a pretty big TT with the Avalanche.

Next month I plan on putting on dual exhaust, but probably not true duals. 3" pipe into Muffler two 2 /14" pipes out. So I may relog again after that to see if anything changes.

The original log in 3rd said to decrease inj slope by 4%, LTFT Bank 1 Avg is 3.73%, and LTFT Bank 2 is 3.17%, No other parameters to adjust on U7193 that I can see.

Tks for the reply

:)

DOD = Displacement on Demand -- which is the same exact thing as AFM = Active Fuel Managment...

where it disables 4 of the 8 cylinders so that it is only running on the other 4 cylinders, to supposedly increase fuel economy...

so, if your truck has that, you need to disable it (by modifying the tune) before you do any data logging...

Tks for the Reply:

Your fast ! I don't have those on my truck so we are good to go again. I know this truck can do more with a little tweaking.

I may ask for your help (Custome Tune) after the dual exhaust next month.

Tks again.
