Saving Factory Setting to Computer

I have read here where it is possible to save the Factory Backup from your truck to your computer. Can someone here explain to me how this is done and if it removes it from the tuner? I have an 05 6.0, not sure what model the tuner is.

OK! MAybe a little more information is required. Predator model number U7165. Instructions needed to download factory backup from predator to PC. Does this erase factory backup from the Predator

No problem.

Assuming you have the cables and power supply, connect the Predator to the PC and open up your DSDownloader.
Power up the Predator, and leave it on the main menu.
Make sure the baud rate and COM ports are set properly (115200) and click the 'get tune from Predator' button.
This will save a copy of the stock tune. Once it has read the file, DSDL will ask if you want to save as an .ori, choose no and direct it to save the file wherever you would like (desktop, documents).

This is only a copy of the backup file, the original is still saved in the tool.

Thanks and yes, I have the cables and power supply. I have downloaded the current updates for this particular tuner and am using the 60 hp tune now. Shifting is a little sluggish, but like the tune otherwise.
