2008 silverado tune parameters

I bought my predator in January of this year after doing alot of research. It was supposed to be the best programmer to buy for my truck. After getting it and several times talking to the retailer from which I got it I'm still unhappy with it.

Is diablo in the process of making this thing compatible with the transmission later or not at all? Just wondering because there are other tuners out there that will. This programmer did nothing for my truck but raise the speed limiter and cut off the dod feature. The 87 or 91 octane tunes really showed little improvement, but if I could modify transmission shifts and firmness that would help the "seat of the pants" power curve.

If anything can be done please help. I believed in so many, but not very happy with my choice in the end. Thanks.

Chebbyfan, I agree with you on most of your points. I may have second guessed my choice had I realized how much impact the lack of TCM support had on the feel of the truck. The tuner does allow for a myriad of adjustments you can perform yourself. Have you done the logging and adjusted your parameters like the fuel trims yet? If you haven't, find the thread about logging parameters and go run you some logs. I thought the same thing about mine and I got to reading about adjusting your fuel trims and what not. So, I decided to give it a try. I will tell you it really wakes your truck up and brings it to life. I'l add the disclaimer that you can't go into this expecting your vehicle to feel like you added a supercharger to it. This programmer will give you 15-30 extra HP and that is kinda hard to feel with a SOTP dyno LOL. It gives you alittle more power and torque which will equate to alittle less shifting when going up some grades, better throttle response, and better fuel mileage.

You may read where alot of people are really talking about how much better the feel is and all of that, but alot of that is in your head. Go run some logs and get everything set right. Drive it that way for alittle bit and then switch it back to the stock tune. You'll feel the difference then. I hope I haven't offended you in any way. I am just offering up my personal experience with the predator on my NBS GMC. BUT I will completely agree that they need to come out with the TCM support. If you run into trouble adjusting parameters, post it out here and someone can help you get there.

I will have to research how to do that and try it. The thing that bothers me the most, and I know two totally different trucks here, is that I had a 98 silverado 5.7 with a hypertech on it that would do alot more than this seems to do and with ten years of technology between them I would think this truck would be night and day difference with a programmer. But I think the 98 would still be a better SOTP ride.

All kinds of people on forums say to just a get a blackbear tune or nelson or wheatley, whatever it is and the trucks REALLY wake up. I just want THAT kinda performance out of mine with the ability to change if needed.

I think doing the adjustments will help. I look at it as they can just get so much more from these new trucks as opposed to what the older ones could do out of the box (more time to refine the technology and achieve better results). I understand Lew (06MonteSS) can do a custom tune and from what I understand achieve the same results those other tuners can do. With the exception of TCM support ofcourse! He only charges $105 to do a custom tune, so that's an option. I understand what you are saying about that. Hopefully doing the logs and getting things adjusted will help

If you are looking for a BlackBear type tune with the ability to change it you are going to have to cough up like $800 for the handheld plus you will have to get a custom tuner to do the tune for you because the device does not support pre-built tunes. Seems like $500 extra just for TCM support is a bit steep to me.
