Trouble Codes
Trouble Codes
Will running with lean trouble codes cause damage to the engine? If so how long before damage will accure?
RE: Trouble Codes
Lean, absolutely. A lean mixture will burn pistons.

RE: Trouble Codes
BUT...lean codes generally only occur at part throttle, and will not hurt anything there.
Generally an issue that causes a lean code will not affect A/F at WOT to a point that it would be unsafe.

Interesting, I have had some lean codes also, Lean bank 1 - Lean bank 2 . Right away somthing must be wrong with the car, right, Especially since re installing back to the stock tune. right. So it just has to be the car just instantly got a problem. Im not so sure about that. Checked for vac leaks, exhaust leaks ect, non found. All this since installing and playing with tunes. ??? Never had any codes when stock, Its a chally 5.7 auto. 5000 miles on it. Installed an A/F gauge to monitor a/f ratio. As Mikel said above, and is right, all my codes come in at part throttle. Not wot. I am monitering my A/F and its NOT lean at wot. However when you back out of the throttle, from wot, or even part throttle my a/f goes to 16-17-18 and then the pcm searches and goes back to 14.8 normal. Its all good and ok. on mine anyway.

I have a 2010 2ss/rs 6speed. I am having the trouble code lean on #2 bank. I read your reply about aa exhaust leak could cause this
and my header to down pipe gasket is leaking.I can fix the leak easy enough but surely there is someway to get rid of those codes so the check engine light will go off.Any help I would be grateful. Sometimes I dont read very well or what you might call slow so please be patient If I seem lost in space.
Thank you very much
