2003 popping with new lift pump
I have a 2003 cummins HO 6 speed. 5" exhaust, Banks intake, gauges, predator and puck stacked. Yesterday I ran the Rkl puff stack tune and had no problems except my low side fuel pressure would drop to nothing. Today i installed a lift pump system using a Aeroquip SS pump. My low side pressure is now 30 psi @ idle and will only drop to 20 psi on a hard pull. After installing the lift pump the engine started popping out of the exhaust. I hear this problem is caused by draining the fuel rail but how could it be fine with 0 psi then start acting up with 20 psi+ ? Can this popping cause internal damage? It seemed to go away when i flipped the puck off. Possible problem with puck? Possible the CP3 cant keep up now? I also changed my fuel filter less than a week ago. what about bad fuel? Any help would be much appreciated.

I was also wondering what kind of low side fuel pressure you guys are running. There doesn't seem to be any info out there about this. How much is too much? Thanks

My 03 does this as well, eventhough you are now getting a sufficent ammount of fuel to the cp3, the cp3 cannont keep up so the rail goes dry. You can search around on DieseltTruckResource.com on how to modify your cp3 or links on where to find good deals on upgraded cp3 pumps.
