Can I get a custom tune that Does Not modify shift pres. etc

Post by ken-z71 »

I have an 04 5.3l sierra and had the trans built recently with shift kit, super hold servo and now with diablo tune installed it shifts hard as a rock pretty much all the time even with the shift pressure turned down all the way and shift time at its slowest. Shifts awesome with factory tune back in so either got to get rid of the tuner or have any modifications to the shift pressure and whatever else replaced with stock param's but keep the extra power if there is any. Iy would also be cool to be able to adjust the trans from the complete stock position with the tuner just in case I feel like it could be slightly stiffer or whatever. Thanks

when you change the way you ltfts are and everything it does that, well it did on my truck it kinda feels like it doesnt kickdown as hard but when it does you can tell... have you tried turing up the pressure and get the shift time up some? and how long did you drive it before you put the tune on with the rebuilt tranny

Ive adjusted the shift pressure and timing both all the way up and down and it is still way, way to hard. It probably wouldnt be a major problem if I had some different tires but with my 16"wheels and 33" tires on them it seems to have too much grip with too much weight (6" lift ext. cab z71) otherwise the tires would undoubtably break loose (with say a shorter/more stiff wall) between 1-2 and probably 2-3 under mid to hard acceleration which = harder shifts, do to the shift kit and servo, so the trans shop tells me. Its no exaggeration when I say I am worried about the drivetrain (u-joints mainly) when I have to accelerate (for whatever reason) from a stop or slow speed because the whole truck makes a huge clunk simultaniously lunging forward like i was rearended. Oh and i drove it for ~two weeks before trans was rebuilt and it seemed harder but nothing serious from what i remember.

I was having the same problem after installing a new trans with a vette servo. I was never completely happy with the shifting. The tunes seem to load inconsistently. I am seriously considering going back stock. I have been playing around with a couple of tunes lately, checking mpg, etc. I installed the original tune, then modified the stock tune, then the 87 tune, and now on the 93 tune. For some strange reason, the shifting has changed very little from the stock tune this time around, but I have had problems with the tunes loading.

Man that is crazy cause I've notice a strange "affect" sometimes with loading tunes with adjusts, for the canned tunes that is. Sometimes it felt like a got a awesome tune loaded then at times it felt like a flop, even when I hadn't changed a thing. I dunno, maybe I'm crazy.

Maybe someone can tell us how this could happen. If I'm doing something wrong, I need to know.

Export the stock tune and last tune written and post them here.
