Downloading cruise file from Trinity
Downloading cruise file from Trinity
Here we go again, went through this when I used Predators, I'm having trouble retrieving data from the Trinity.
I created a cruise log for one of Lewis's custom tunes to begin the adjusting phase, but I can't get the cruise log to transfer from the trinity to my laptop!
(Another driver problem??)
Dataviewer which I just downloaded (again) from the site is communicating with the tool just fine. A message comes up identifying the saved log (Cruise log1).
WHen I click on the cruise log to download it, I get an error message (invalid argument)
What do I need to get the file to transfer to my laptop?
I am puzzled because, obviously I transfered Lew's custom tune to the tool, twice now. WHy should I now be encountering data transfer problems?

RE: Downloading cruise file from Trinity
It should transfer just fine with DataViewer. Post up the runtime.txt file from "My Documents\DataViewer".
IF your using gm_can_gas application, insert SDCard (upto 2GB) and reboot Trinity with it attached to your ECU.
Select Options->SDCard Operations->Copy Log to SDCard.
The log can then be later viewed with DataViewer on your PC/Laptop.

Is this what you were asking for?jimb wrote:It should transfer just fine with DataViewer. Post up the runtime.txt file from "My Documents\DataViewer".

No. I was asking for a file named "runtime.txt" in the folder "My Documents\DataViewer". (double click My Documents on your desktop. Then double click DataViewer folder. It should be there).
Note IF you are using version 3.3.0.3 of DataViewer; You should update it to the more current version. 3.3.0.3 is rather old.

from what I see -- "CCommThread::TestOpenConnection, Baud Check bad response"
looks like the baud rate is not set correctly for your usb cable in the usb driver settings....
check the settings/properties for the usb cable in Windows Device Manager... you want the bits per second to be at 57600 or 115,200, and then click the Advanced button, and make sure the com port is set to 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5....

OK, I've been all through the device manager. In my OS (XP) I can't see any way to adjust baud rate or com port. I have looked all over in windows device manager and nothing. After three hours trying to figure this out, I'm off to buy a SD card. Maybe if that doesn't work, I'll get a box of crayons and a note pad and manually copy the file!
Not complaining, but frankly, this should not be so difficult. THis is also not my first rodeo with DiabloSport with issues like this. THis Trinity is actually my 4th device I have purchased. I would have thought that after all the research and development time, we could have come up with something that works.
Again, I am not complaining just saying...
When we the consumer pays 500-600 dollars we expect the item purchased to work as advertised. Now with years of experience with DiabloSport, I have a history of devices that did not work, drivers that did not work, requiring the purchase of a newer device and now this. Without being able to pull the log out of my Trinity, the custom tune thing is only half done, so it, is not possible if I can't figure this out.
I have run some pretty big programs over the years. I have often engaged IT folks to help me through those kind of issues. I am not trained in computer science. I should not have to be this savey with IT kind of issues just to be able to do simple things with this tool.
My recommendation is either to make the tool simplier in operation, ie more universal in application. or sell it with a big disclaimer that says things like "The tool may not work at all or may not be able to function with your computer. It may or may not be able to communicate with devices outside the physical boundaries of the factory, please purchase at your own risk."

Oh, and Lew, I am definately not singling you out. You have always provided good service to me and your custom tunes are always great. It's just that even though I have a half tuned custom tune in the Escalade, with this latest problem, I can not tune it any further. I am left with only two options, fix this problem (again) or pull the whole tune out and go somewhere else and get the custom tune done correctly.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downloading cruise file from Tri
do you have the cable hooked up to the pc and trinity? needs to be connected for it to show up in the device manager...
then, once you see it, double click it to get to its properties... then go to the Port Settings tab... bits per second is the first item...
once you check/change that, click the Advanced button, and you'll see the Com Port selection drop down list where you can check/change that...

I just transfered the cruise log to a SD card, then to the laptop. Seems like the path of least resistience.
I'm going to play with the settings some more to see if I can solve this. I hate for something like this to get the better of me. Meanwhile, thanks for the patience, I admit, mine is worn a little thin at the moment, forgive me.
You should have the cruise log any time...thanks!
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downloading cruise file
OK, I was able to open up the device manager with the Trinity hooked up
I opened up the com tab and found the Trinity listed
I double clicked it and discovered the baud rate was set to 9600
So I reset to 57.600
Next I noted the com port was set to 8
So I reset to 1
When I opened up Dataviewer, it just kept searching for the tool.
So I reset the COM port to 2
Next time I opened DataViewer, it immediately recognized the tool, but like before although it recognizes and pulls up my "cruise log 1" it will not download it. I constantly get an "invalid argument" message
BTW everytime the DataViewer opens and after finding the tool, it displays a message"
"No connected PCM/CAN"
So what now?
