Duramax,security light,cannot uninstall predator.

Yo!

I have a customer that with an 04' duramax. His security light came on
(the car with a lock pic) in the dash and stays on. He attempted to uninstall the tuner to take the vehicle to the dealer to have the security light issue repaired. The tuner (I personally verified this) will say "error incorrect vin" when attempting to communicate with the ecu. He brought it to the dealer anyway, and of course, the dealer said the tuner was the issue. Any ideas?

So, before it went to the dealer, it was saying incorrect VIN?
Any trouble codes present?
Security light should just be a VATS issue, and a simple BCM reprogram should have fixed it. Dealer techs are tools....

Light was present before.Thats why he was going to the dealer. No other trouble codes. I have not seen this yet and do not have the tools to update his vehicle outside the engine ecu. So here I post........The dealer charged him $150 and kicked him out the door.
Now the question is what causes the predator to show "error incorrect vin" and not allow it to uninstall? Any relation to the security light? Or just coincidence........

Im guessing this is a really old Predator, like rev 2.02?
They were very voltage sensitive, and it could be anything from aftermarket stereo, trailerbrake, remote start, etc.
Could even be low voltage. Could be the PCM was reflashed previously...does it still feel like it has a tune in it?

Full story:

- Customer has older bios ver 6.01 sofware rev 1.1 hardware 1.0 predator.
- predator was installed in vehicle for several years,customer happy.
- customer brought to me to update
- predator was still married to ecu,gave back to customer to uninstall
-security light came on.
-customer then attempted to uninstall predator before taking to dealer.
-customer was not able to uninstall
- customer brought to dealer for diagnosis
-dealer said all systems checked okay,security light was on due to tuner
- I now have the predator.

The thing is I know nothing about the security system. I have no idea how or if the predator could even be related to this system.The only tie between the two,is that the unit will not uninstall. I have not ammo to shoot at the dealer.
My assumption would be that the dealer could reflash the trouble area. I send the predator to you to have repaired ect. We refalsh the truck and all is well.
I guess the main questions is: these two unrelated issues?

Yes, IMO, they are unrelated. GM VATS issues are related to the BCM, but there is no reason you could not flash the BCM and or the PCM with the Predator tune there. Id love to know if they can flash it at all, or if there is a possible communication issue somewhere.

I have the customer checking into the details. His invoice led me to believe the tech did not attempt to update. I'll update this post when we know more.Thanks Mike!
