Help with tuning more than one vehicle..

Post by Gointopless »

Newb here, but I have a simple (I hope) question. I did some searching and am not liking what I see. I have two vehicles that I would like to tune (actually I have 5 cars, but only 2 are able to be tuned with a tuner). I have a Dodge 2500 Ram Cummings Diesel and a 2005 Mustang GT. I played with some of the tunes on the Mustang just to see what it felt like in the car. I was great. I also have a Dodge Ram that I wanted to tune as well (more for towing). My question is how can I put a tune on each vehicle without having to load the original back to it's respective car and then carry tuner to other vehicle and tune it (My wife sometimes pulls a horse trailer and I drive the Mustang). I'm just trying to tune both of my vehicles.

You can't. You can only tune one vehicle at a time.

correct...

if you want to tune vehicle #2, then you have to restore the original backup to vehicle #1 first to unlock/reset the trinity, then you could use it on vehicle #2...

there will be an update in the future that will allow you to have more than one vehicle tuned at a time, but as of right now, you can only have one tuned at a time.

Not what I wanted to hear.. bummer. Just a thought, in future, when purchased you could offer "Licenses" to purchase to allow up to say 3 vehicles. Make it a reasonable price ($19.99 or so). 2 of my vehicles can't benifit from a tuner (cost prohibitive and really not needed), but 2 of them can definitely can - last one is going full fuel management. Just a thought on how to make the unit more attractive to the masses.

heh...

there will be a licensing plan... but not $19.99 LOL...

will be on the order of $100 - $150 approximately, to get licenses for additional vehicles...

but, that's a ways away, so there's nothing written in stone about it at this point yet anyway...

I understand what you mean on price, but I would think you would want to make it attactive enough that people would want to purchase it. Hopefully it will happen. Maybe even making an android app for smart phones would be nice too (better screen resolution and touch screen - could maybe even make a bluetooth dongle or wi-fi connection to communicate). Just a thought. I'll keep an eye out for the upgrade.

Can't make it wireless. Its powered off the OBD-2 port. No wire, no power.

Yes I would like the multi car thing myself but would like to get like 5 total for around 200-250 over the 650 already spent on the trinity but I would say for 650 it should come already with 2

I think DS will be ok with sales if they do this.

I think DiabloSport would still make good sales and money if they let you do 2-3 cars because realisticly you wouldn't be tuning just anybodies car because they would have to be around alot for updates and stuff like that plus they wouldn't be able to data log or use the gauges I think most would just use to tune vehicles in the family or maybe real close friend but mostly just in the family and if you did do close friend and they see how cool it is and the gains you get and what you can log it might even get them to buy their own when they otherwise might not have because they would get sick of trying to get ahold of you to use it. I guess that is something they will have to decide to do for there loyal customers like me :D I will never own another car without installing a DS tune I do realize they also have to be careful not to lose sales but like I said it's not real easy to tune just anybodies car and keep it up to date and logged so hopefully soon us trinity and pred owners can tune more then one of our vehicles until then keep up the great work guys your trinity tuner is the shizat and I am sure the pred rocks as well just haven't used it!! Thanks!!!

Hey Mike,
How about the bluetooth or wireless transmitter being powered by the OBD port and the Diablo being a rechargeable battery.. I understand about the limitations though.. just a thought.. Love the tuner, still getting my feet wet with it. I am curious when trying to build my monitoring set up, where do I get the speedo from ? I have been using the diablo to see my speed (another fine Ford engineering wonder) as most of my gauge cluster is useless at this point - I think only my oil pressure and battery gauge is working. Also is there the ability to get A/F ratio reading? Hopefully I'm not putting up too many newb questions.
