2009 sierra 5.3l any recommendations for tune with predator?

Post by thunderwolfx »

i have a predator u7194 not sure which revision i'll have to check, I know that I have to update to the 09 update yet. i have a 09 gmc sierra 5.3L with dynomax cat back duals and an air raid CAI and a poweraid throttle body spacer. I run 87 octane as 91 plus can be hard to find. what tune do I run I tried 87 Octane tune and gained 3 - 4 MPG and some noticeable power. Tried Diablo tune and mileage was close to the same but way more bottom end. my truck is flex fuel and 6 speed transmission. Any recommendations? Any other things to do when having these mods?

if you only use 87 octane gas in the truck, then use the 87 octane tune...

you don't want to use the diablo tune - that tune is made for 91/93 octane gas and it has the timing/spark advance set a lot higher and will cause knock when you get on it...

turning off the DOD will make it stay in 8 cyl. mode all the time, and a lot of people have found that they actually gain some mileage with it disabled....

all depends on if you do a LOT of highway driving or not...

predators will not be getting any update for tcm/tranny support... they are limited by their amount of memory and storage space...

when tcm/tranny support is finally done and available, it will be an update for the Trinity and new inTune programmer...

so the dod off helps mileage if mostly highway or mostly off highway and does it do anything for performance with it turned off?

I disabled the DOD in my 2007 Yukon and have not noticed any difference in my gas mileage. I do feel more comfortable with it disabled as it should will benefit the longevity of the engine, no valves constantly collapsing then reactivating while switching back and forth from 4 to 8 cyl. operation and no chance for brief temperature change in the affected cylinders or parts while deactivated then reactivated, even if for a very brief amount of time.
