Just so everyone knows - I just visited with Diablo and they apologized for the response I received from Monte as it was sarcastic and an inappropriate response to a customer. They said they would clean up the string and I specifically said that they should not - let the record stand as this is a public forum. I was advised that they would leave it all up for all to see. Now I see they removed his inappropriate response. Likewise, I was told I would see an apology. Not seeing that now are we?

Glad I copied it to preserve reality. Look below if you are curious to how they really respond.

ever put headers on a vehicle/your truck? new exhaust system? cold air intake? etc... or did you not want to take the time to?

doing a data log and adjusting the tune takes less time than either of those things.... yeesh...

do a data log - and for example, if the long term fuel trims show +5%, then you adjust the injector slope to -5% then reinstall the tune... done...

how hard is that really??

it's not like you're learning a whole tuning software suite here....

dude.. I sent you a PM...

and I removed my post myself before I heard about your conversation with Vas... I have no problem with the post being up here, but hearing that you had taken offense to it, I had removed it, because that wasn't my intent...

so if you still want it up there, that's fine and ok with me that you reiterated it in your response... doesn't matter to me one bit...

I'm done here...

Thank you for your time and response.
it may help a little, but your better/bigger gains would be on longer drives....

Well since this a public forum, since I don't work for DS and I did read the original post from mardscott and Lew's response, all I can say is "YA CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE!!" You seem to be the type of guy that would drive on tires that are 10 lbs. under inflated and complain because you have to go to the gas station and put air in them once a year. You appear to be whining about wanting a turn key solution. Even the guys that want to sell you a "so called" turn key solution will want you to log your results. How else is anyone going to know if the changes are helping? You want better gas mileage but you drive an Avalanche and have a long commute.... GET REAL buddy!!! Buy a flippin' Prius!! Don't go posting on a public forum if you don't wanna get bashed. Lew is one of the most respected GM tuners in the business and there was nothing in his response to you that was offensive.

Classic case of a guy that has no clue about tuning, cars, computers, or anything technology related. Probably works in Sales

Trust me markdscott, there will be more responses once the GM folks on the forum read these posts from someone being as unreasonable as you are.... YEESH!!!!!

To Lew: You had no reason to remove your response as it was the truth and professional!

Oh yes, and if this forum is really public, DS won't remove my post and censor my opinion!! :)

mikel wrote:Not nearly as much as it would with it enabled...but, if your worried about MPG, why would you have MDS disabled?

I have DOD disabled because of the fact that there have been reports of excessive oil use as a result of carbon build up in the rings due to the DOD. GM does have a service bulletin on this problem which occurs on some vehicles with DOD. So to be on the safe side, I have disabled DOD. Since I have used a synthetic oil from day one on my 2007 Yukon, I have not experienced this problem but still have disabled the DOD. GM now is specifying that a synthetic oil be used on their newer vehicles presumably to prevent this problem. I still would like to benefit from higher mileage.

Edited this post to add: I appreciate the fact that I can modify the tunes for peak performance and also to disable DOD. From reading previous posts by one individual on this thread, I thought it appropriate to mention that this is a big plus and an added benefit that is not a difficult task.

Since I was asked to put my 2 cents in, I just need to say this; Dude, you're just being lazy at this point. Just do whats needed to get the tune right. Since each vehicle is different, no tune will be perfect out of the box. Its just not possible.

For the record, I asked Mike_Levy to add his opinion because he's around the forums more than me :lol.

All - to set the record straight - I did receive an apology by PM - just hadn't received it prior to posting the above.

Facts as I now know them - A sincere apology was received as it was not his intent to offend and it was mere coincidence on timing of the removal of the posting. It is clear that Monte is a well respected and knowledgable man. I have written back to him and have clearly accepted his apology.

Additional views - I believe most on here are looking for high performance - fuel economy not being a large percent of the current customers. In light of the continued rise in fuel costs, I suspect Diablo will want to cater to more customers who are looking for an easy out of the box fuel economy solution.

As for fordomatic69's comments/opinions - You would probably be surprised, but I suspect I have probably written more code than you have ever looked at. You are right in one sense - although my garage most likely has all the tools I would need to pull and rebuild an engine, I haven't done that since I was a teenager so would need a lot of guidance to do a modern engine right. I only fix lawnmowers, motorcycles (re-built one last year) etc. now.

As for my work - sorry - not in sales. I am a CPA and I am the Global Finance Manager for the - read this carefully - IT (Information Technology) Department of a major international oil & gas company! Who would have thunk it?

When it is not your passion, sometimes you truly just want the easy solution. I suspect many of you pay your CPA to do your taxes - not that it is something you cannot learn to do youself - but because it is not your passion and you just want it done.

I enjoy performance, but my need is savings in this arena. Not my passion. I ride bikes and have a boat (Malibu for those that enjoy true performance in boats) that are my current passion.

As for the bashing - bring the rest of it on.

Nope mark youre just screwed. Funny how other programers come with the cables to connect to a computer. Here they want you to spend $50 on the cables then another $100 for a "custom tune". Atleast u noticed a difference in performance. Im trying to selling my predator and save up for efi live or similar programer from jet performance.

Does this .23a update also contain the "Throttle Booster" update?

markdscott wrote:Well, needless to say, I am disappointed. Time is money. Now the advice is that I must spend time learning and doing a lot of work with this thing rather than being able to enjoy the advertised benefits that the included program are supposed to deliver. Presume that I now need the $50 kit to hook it up to my computer as well as downloading the software and then having to put how many hours into it just to get what was advertised to happen right out of the box with the included program.

Is it just me or does something not sound right with the above?

That being the case, what are my refund options now as I was only given a 14 day window to return the item to Truck Addons? Hard to have had enough experience with the item in 14 days to realize that we are now at the point of discussing whether or not a return is in order.

Shame as I truly wanted the benefits and thus was happy to spend the purchase price. A group of friends are wanting my results as if successful, they indicate they will purchase. None are into cars in the sense of wanting to spend time as indicated above. They want the simple solution too.

Any easy resolves to this?
You dont actually need the cable to datalog!! Second of all its a handheld programmer that will cover a vast variety of vehicles, so there will be some variance and some minor tweaking is to be expected!! Its the best handheld on the market for Adjustability and setup etc. Just do some datalogging on your predator while on the freeway, get your LTFT in check! You will probably have to reduce your injector slope buy -2 or -4 with the 87 tune from my experiance and then you will gain back the lost mileage and probably then some. Plus better throttle responce etc. Just my thoughts! Its easy to do even without the extra cable. 8)
