2008 silverado - torque management

Post by h8mud »

2008 Silverado Predator U7194 - v.9r23

I bought the predator because of the advice of my local speed shop, I told him that i wanted to tune out the factory delay, after checking your web site he said I would be able to disable torque management. I would like to take the truck to my local drag way and would like to get the most power I can. I called tech support today they told me that the v.23 update eliminates TM and only comes in to play at around 6 to 700 hp. So I did the updated and data logged:

requested torque was 99.61%
and only got
delivered torque was 79.69%

Is this thing a waste of money?

Not a waste of money by any means.

Have you logged actual timing to make sure it is maintaining what it is asking for?

from my understanding this tool only eliminates tm on the engine side....unless something changed in 9r23.

This is my understanding also.It was said here several times that the Predator WILL NOT/DOES NOT have the ability to adjust on the tranny side. Depends on who answers your question I guess. I was told in a previous post that the engine side is disabled in the canned tunes. No way to adjust it on your own I guess.

what do you mean by canned tunes? previous tunes before 9r23. i would agree if it was pre 9r19 tunes. ds said they didnt change anything after 9r18 tunewise but i dont agree. my truck felt way more responsive when i had 9r16. bad part is you cany go back to any pre-9r19 tunes once you update. im almost tempted to just go stock and dump the predator. new tunes are weak

Canned Tunes- the tunes that come already programmed with the Predator for our trucks.

Don't know about pre-9r18 because I never had those installed. I do know that it was said here the only updates were to allow the predator to work with the newest calibrations on new model years.
I got the predator from a member on here with 9r18 installed and my truck runs great. Turned off AFM and it's much better than stock.
