WTF??? Why did I buy your product???

Post by dodgemotor »

I am very unhappy with all of the bs I'm having to go through to get your product to work on my 2007 Jeep Commander 5.7l. First, I received the unit, but it requires an update to work.??? Then, it requires a cable to get the update.??? Now, I can't get it to download the update.???

When I purchased a HyperTech unit, it simply plugged in and worked.

So, what's the deal??? I'm ready to through this pos in the trash! Or better yet, maybe I'll drop it off of one of our 80' tall silos at work, and post the video to youtube!

I don't understand why this is so complicated??? I want a unit that works! I feel like I've wasted $300+.

great post. how about asking for help before whining like a two year old. most the time its your computer that is causing the problem. now try asking nicely and im sure it can be fixed. mine works fine.

My point is: Why do I have to ask for help in the first place?! Why is there an 11 page explanation of how to download? Ya, I'm gonna whine like a two year old because this is BS. The units should work right out of the box, imo.

Glad you're not having any problems.

Issues is that your PCM has an old calibrationin it from chrysler, the tool wants to update you to the latest before it tunes the vehicle, its not that its 'not ready out of the box', its that we have no control over whats in your PCM ;)

download the DSDownloadcer, install the usb to serial driver, and let the downloader find the predator, then click the cal updater button, nothing to it.

o i had problems. and i asked and they got sorted out. 11 pages is the predator the intune is less. and the reason it doesnt work out of the box is because dodge will put a thousand different tunes in one model then figure out that something doesnt work right then change the calid and only on vehicles that complain. so there are literally hundreds of jeep commanders with different calids. and some are not even supported because they are so new. here is a simple Google search explanation.

"We have recently revised the instructions posted on the DCX Calibration Update page of our website.

On many Chrysler gas powered vehicles (V6 and V8), when you attempt to install a tune with one of our devices, it will display a message that reads
"This vehicle needs and update Download here
www.diablosport.com/dcx "

This message is displayed because the tool wants to update the vehicle’s stock calibration file, not necessarily because the Predator or Trinity itself needs an update. Chrysler has many calibration ID's for every model year (think of a Calibration ID as a part number for your factory tune), and they cannot all be stored in the memory of one device. When the tool gives you the message with the website, it wants to change you over from a calibration ID that it does not support to one that it does.

We have configured our tuning devices to be able to run the same update function as a dealership’s equipment, so that you do not need to bring it in to them when the update is required. When you go to the website listed above, select the instructions pertinent to your device (Pred or Trinity) and take em step by step. "

now hypertech does the same fucking thing. http://www.hypertech.com/support-update-software.aspx
maybe you should become a little bit more informed before you whine at these guys blaming there equipment go tell ralph gilles that dodge needs to knock their shit off. my predator for my GM worked right out of the box. and let me guess, you werent using the hypertech on this oversized jeep liberty. why dont you just return it? following simple instructions is obviously not your strong suit.

Grow up.

I'm gonna try it on a different computer tomorrow. I spent an hour on it last night with no luck on my laptop.

I still think it should work right out of the box like HyperTech, Jet,...etc.

The HyperTech unit I purchased was for this exact vehicle, ass wipe, and it worked right out of the box. Who the fuck are you anyway to be talking down to me?! That's what I thought, nobody.

okay genius if you ask a question you need to wait for a response. unless that was being used as a rhetorical come back. in which case you're argument is flawed and ignored. if the hyper tech was so great why arent you using it?

@ Dodgemotor: I think the reason why Leeindy may seem a bit condescending is that your initial post immediately knocked the product; referring to it as a "POS"; the process to get it to work as "BS"; your headline's first word is "WTF"; and then you proceeded to threaten a youtube video of the devices destruction. Not really a good way to initially win friends and influence people I must say.

I recently purchased a Predator for my vehicle and had to proceed through similar steps... however, much like any software based product, changes and updates occur that may or may not make it into the production line and, in order to have the most updated version of the product, many times requires the end-user to perform certain functions. Think Microsoft Windows 7, or Vista or XP - heck when I had an XP based unit, they were on Service Pack 3 I believe that required downloading from the Microsoft website. Today, my computer has a function called automatic update in order to keep it current. Why should ANY electronically programmed product be any different? Personally, I would much rather have the most current programming available than have a product that may have been manufactured several months/years ago but happens to "work right out of the box".

Dad always said, you get more accomplished with honey rather than vinegar. Perhaps the old axiom can find a place here? Just sayin'.

I might not be so critical of this product if it had initially included the cables. When I called Tech and asked why the unit wouldn't work, I was informed I needed to also purchase a cable kit in order to update the 'tool'. My immediate response was "why didn't it come with the cable if it HAS to have one"!? I don't mind paying extra for it, I just don't understand why it didn't come with what it HAS to have in order to work. I waited a week to get it, then had to wait another week for the cable kit. Now I'm still waiting...

The Tech said I should have known it required the cable kit.(read the fine print) Now I'm wondering what kind of company I'm dealing with.

For those of you who haven't had any problems or issues with your 'tools', good for you, but that has not been the case for me. I'll update after the next attempt to get this thing working, sometime tomorrow.

Thanks for your input. I apologize for being rude, but not for being dissappointed in this product. I just hope it's all I've heard it is...

Your argument regarding inclusion of the cables I feel is valid one and can cause irritation... I felt the same way when i purchased my kit as well. Most programming based products include all that is needed (with the exception of the internet connection of same - however Microsoft at least provides the browser embedded within their OS for the access once you are internet connected). That being said and based on personal experience, it is.
